My mom said in Communist Poland, your EMPLOYER filed your taxes for you. And even now days I read that in other Western countries, the government sends you a bill telling you exactly how much taxes you owe, and you go online and in 2 minutes you taxes are paid. Someone said the IRS COULD and even WANTS to just send you how much you owe, but they aren't allowed to. No, they force you to figure it out yourselves.
My mom also said in Communist Poland, to get a job, you showed them your degree, and that's it. No bullshit resumes, applications or interviews or competing with other candidates. Not even background checks. And once you got hired, you REALLY had to fuck up to get fired. It's still like this.
In college in other countries, the faculty plans out your semester for you. At my university, a bunch of people in my class were shocked to find out that you have to submit a form to the school telling them you're graduating. Like faculty is supposed to know that shit.
And I couldn't even use my credit card rewards, 'cuz they said I have to call someone.
Some more examples, I had to wait 4 fucking hours to go on a video call to get my fucking unemployment.
Don't even get me started on health care.
Also, in other countries I heard if you get a fine, you can pay it directly to the officer right there and then. But here, NO. You have to either mail it, or go to court. Speaking of court, in other countries someone commits a crime and is convicted the next day. Here they have to wait and entire year just for their hearing. Look how long ago Maduro was captured and still hasn't had his trial. Then they force you to lose work income by going to jury duty under threat of legal action.
That's just a few examples. I'm certain if I sat here, I could think of many more, but bottom line is, it seems everything about American society is designed to inconvenience you and make your life as difficult as possible.
