Which words reveal your regional accent when you think you have none?

In Ohio, people can actually tell I'm not from here. They say I have a NJ accent. I don't think I have a Jersey accent, I grew up in NY and so I would think I sound more like that. I don't say, New Joisey, for example. And some of those accents from Jersey City and the shore are the most prominent in my opinion.

So--what words give you away? When I say "coffee" "daughter", "insurance", "water" and some other words, that's what gives me away but I think I have no accent at all. People here say "INsurance instead of InSURance, like I say.

I love the NYC accent, it's funny and rough sounding. If you want to hear a true NY accent, look at the movie "The Taking of Pelham 123" where Walter Matthau and Jerry Stiller are undeniably from there. Its really hilarious.
