Why do so many people vote against things that they benefit from?

Most people are uninformed. There's an amendment being voted on in my state. What it actually does is allow the legislature to overrule the voted upon abortion rights. However, if you listen to right wing propaganda you'd believe it has to deal with transgender surgery on minors. The thing is, transgender surgery on minors is already illegal in my state. So even if part of that amendment touches on outlawing it, that's moot, because it won't change the law on the books.

Why do you think the Republican party is trying to destroy public education in the USA and replace it with religious indoctrination in private "Christian" schools. They've been keeping people ignorant and poor in Red States for a reason.

They have been told the same lies for so long: the democrats are going to take your guns, they're radical socialists etc etc that the uneducated people Trump loves believe it. They've even been convinced education is bad lol
