I think there is a difference between criticizing someone’s politics and making comments about their body. The protesters were disrupting his speech, so I can understand why he was irritated, but telling someone they need to lose weight does not really address what they were doing.

It also makes the whole exchange more personal than political. You can strongly disagree with a protester without commenting on their appearance. And considering how often politicians talk about having thicker skin, I think that standard should apply to everyone, regardless of which side they are on.

That said, people are free to decide for themselves whether the remark was just typical Trump style banter or whether it crossed a line. I just think the actual issue being protested gets lost when the conversation turns into mocking someone's body. 🤷‍♀️
