Why does Trump seem so soft on Putin—what’s the deal?

[Anonymous]

[Levin]

I guess Trump is a utilitarian and is really self-orientated.

He wants to get the cost of living down for Americans and he's concerned about looming elections. It's basically, egotism. Maybe it's about looking good and his legacy, rather than wider humanitarian concerns.

But it's really poor strategising and is a gift to Putin.

in my opinion, the strategy should have been to bring Russia in from the cold and give myriad economic promises and benefits for giving a satisfactory resolution to the war (which may involve compromises on both sides).

[exitseven]

He is not soft on Putin. He just got Russia to released 100 tons of diesel fuel onto global markets to bring town the price of diesel fuel.

[Staximus]

@exitseven 100 tons? That’s nothing

[exitseven]

@Staximus yes, I made a mistake it is really 300,000 tons.

[DryGermanGuy]

Nothing will happen with the price. This is all a ridiculous charade. Russia is struggling in a war, with their refineries getting destroyed, they need all the diesel they can get!

[exitseven]

@DryGermanGuy putinn needs money. The deal will happen and diesel prices will go down. Unlike democrats we have a President that knows how to get things done.

[DryGermanGuy]

I predict that as usual your prediction will be wrong. This problem is solved in the Persian Gulf region, not in Russia.

[exitseven]

@DryGermanGuy there is a global market and diesel fuel can come from anywhere.

[DryGermanGuy]

Yeah, and again: Russia has no diesel to spare. They are in a war.

[exitseven]

@DryGermanGuy Putin needs money more than he needs diesel. He will find the diesel.

[DryGermanGuy]

His tanks don’t run on money.

[exitseven]

@DryGermanGuy everything runs on money

[DryGermanGuy]

Educate yourself on the intrinsic ridiculousness of these so-called "Trump deals":

It has often been reported over the years Putin critics get killed.

[lilBigPotato]

Trump is a wannabe dictator and looking up to Putin.

[DryGermanGuy]

He would like to be a card-carrying member of the IBOD (International Brotherhood of Dictators).

[Pterodon]

You can bet there’s a deal that will help America. He’s a wheeler dealer and very much America and Americans first unlike democrats that put illegal aliens first

[Staximus]

Maybe because they are the only country that could nuke us off the map, genius?

[slatyb]

Trump aspires to be a dictator like Putin.

Putin has tons of dirt on him

[Asker]

What kind of dirt are we talking about here? Like, actual stuff or just rumors?
