He is a very mentally ill man and so whatever he thought is not very clear. But it does seem that he holds thoughts that do not make sense to most other people. This would be one of them.

Additionally, his narcissism is so profound that he quite literally cannot see or conceive of the idea that apparently many people dislike him, dislike his behavior, are horrified by his commentary and his behavior, and generally do not hold him in a positive light. I think that he feels that either such things do not exist, or if they do exist, they're very minimal. The truth is that they are getting more and more prevalent. The same avoidance of supposedly negative feelings may also occur in his followers, who quite literally often deny reality in favor of their more positive false opinions of him. Cognitive dissonance, when it begins to falter, is extremely painful. Most people will go to extreme lengths to avoid it.

The only thing he learned in his life is to be overly confident (at least on the outside) praise himself and bully people with his daddys money. Secretary of War, Department of War, engaging in Trade War, disrupting the flow of commerce due to Iran War with the whole Strait of Hormuz Closed, sabotaging Iran Nuclear Deal #1 and not achieving #2, creating the Iran War by bombing innocent school girls, and engaging in hateful bitter statements, kidnapping people, silencing the media, standing with Israel not denouncing The Genocide. Not to mention the blowing up fisherman vessels that weren’t proven to be carrying drugs, also not to mention ICE thugs brutalizing American citizens and non citizens.

Those sound like things a country that loves war does, not one that wants peace.
