Why do young people join party culture despite drugs and shallow friendships?

I mean, I do not see any appeal in narcotics, and being around people who will reject your friendship over poor grades, modest weight changes, irregular table manners, or offending the wrong group and becoming socially unpopular.

Now, my friends are not perfect, but I know they will not reject me over a bad hair day or an ugly winter sweater.

Bad influence of society and social networks (facebook, twitter, instagram etc) - they think it's "very cool.
I never liked parties involving drugs... I did try alcohol, but I didn't like the taste, and I never got drunk... alcohol just makes me sleepy, and I have to go to the toilet very often.

because you are too old to understand the mindset of a 20 yr old. At 20, most of these kids are seeing the adult world for the first time, enjoying freedoms they never had. Things like being able to have alcohol, go on trips without their parents, being able to have sex, date without supervision.

plus at that age, they tend to have a less formed understanding of who they are. so the only thing they know about themselves is they just want to feel good being accepted as a part of something. this is why they are so social, gregarious, and have so many friends. It's validation, the feeling of being accepted.

Over time, the partying gets old because they have done it for too long. Over time, they get a better sense of who they are: their interests, sexuality, hobbies, finding out they rather live alone than with roommates, learning which types of people they don't get along with long term, finding out doing drugs actually does more harm than good. People also get more asocial as they get older which is why people stop socializing by a certain age.

My advice is.. make your friends in your 20s, otherwise, it will only get harder in your 30s. By 40, people literally stop making friends- most of them.
