Well sadly this is one which again become a partisan argument to some extent. I was hoping to have some bipartisan cooperation but I guess that was hoping for too much.

It's really unbelievable what happened. Consider Texas for a moment. Every statewide office was occupied by a Republican before yesterday. Right now they hold 2. Railroad commissioner and one other. Governor, Lt. Gov., and Attourney General all flipped blue nullifying their efforts to remove all power from the governor as Hinojosa won that. Additionally the texas House went blue, but the senate remains red.
It was crazy how quickly the Ossoff call was made, and the SC flip told what was fixing to happen... Last time I remember an election being this much like an earthquake was in 80 when Reagan won his first term, sadly that began an era that has been a long slide down for the average American.
I'm rapidly coming to view this site as a waste of time. What is the value?
The value in this site is that people like you and I have intelligent things to say and can have good discussions. There are a lot of people on here that are not terribly intelligent, but there's a number of us that are. That includes you and me.
Some of these people are so completely siloed that they actually believe in the snake oil and the devil. They still think that Hillary and others cut the faces off of babies and partied while wearing them as masks in the basement of that pizza parlor with no basement.. I can't think of any other possible reason that some of these could be so persistantly, consistantly virulent. They bought it all lock stock and barrell.
You are right about this, but almost anywhere you go, you're going to find people like this. Average IQ in the U. S. is literally 100, and that's not very high. I think that if you want to mingle with people, you have to take the good with the bad. Can, however, block people on here that you don't want to talk to or don't want to waste your time with, and that is kind of a nice feature. I have blocked a number of people that I just simply do not want to have any discussion with because it's too frustrating and annoying. On the other hand, there are people that I look forward to talking to. You are one of them. We may not agree, but we at least are intelligent enough to talk to each other coherently.
Meh... the nutjobs are everywhere. truth be told I don't know that we disagree on much of substance. You are a worthwhile conversation, sure. More than anything I'm not really feeling like gaining much traction here... but then I am lazy and not really asking questions, so... myself to blame really.
That paragraph above was as much in response to your update as much as anything. Nihilists can sometimes ruin things... dampen the mood.
I started asking questions on here out of boredom, and I found that asking questions really makes it a much better experience in many ways. You have to tailor the questions a bit to your audience, but when you do that (and when you also tailor the questions after they've been asked with updates, and sometimes by removing people that try to ruin things), the experience becomes fascinating.
I find myself thinking of more interesting questions from day to day, and sometimes I go over the five-question limit that they've imposed on just about everyone. It makes it worth it. Give it a try. I would be really interested in seeing the questions you want to ask.
Should do... I'm sure the dynamic would change rather quickly.

I am honestly not surprised. As a 3-time Trump voter, he really screwed up with the affordability crisis, the economy, the botched Epstein Files, and the ongoing war in Iran. At least I am humble enough to admit this. It was an absolute betrayl the his voters and the American people by his administration and the Republican party.
Thank you for admitting these things and Trump's culpability, and not making excuses for them. I appreciate your honesty.

@Pterodon we don't need victories. We don't need to expose our soldiers to death and injury. The money we get will continue going to us, and it won't be going into Trump's pockets or the pockets of Republicans. I don't care what others say about America after what we've done to them, I can't exactly blame them. Maybe we can start making peace with people instead of antagonizing them constantly.

I don't expect to get money from the government. I earn my own money just like you do.
Let's not argue. We don't agree politically but we have a lot of other things in common and arguing is the last thing I want to do with you. It's a lot more interesting to talk about the things we have in common.

Anyway, I've been meaning to mention to you that I was reading that the NTSB made a statement about that Learjet that went down in Florida. They said that they found the elevator in three pieces. Quite a ways from that wreckage site. It wasn't clear to me from that whether it fell off the plane on its way down or it fell down previously and that was part of what caused the crash, but it seems like the elevator certainly had a part in it in some fashion. What is your thinking about this?

I heard that too. Primary flight controls don’t come off very often. Only 2 things come to mind. Catastrophic mechanical failure, over stress airframe. Both have happened. The Concorde tried setting an around the world speed record but was cut short when the rudder flew off. It made it back safe but that was the end of the Concordes career. She was the most tested aircraft of all time. I think it was corrosion. There’s a type of corrosion called inter granular. It’s internal and can’t be seen. It occurs along the grain boundaries. There are ways to test for it and engineers have a pretty good guess where it might be prone to forming but. . .
by the way the speed record they tried beating was set earlier by a Gulfstream IV that I helped to modify for that mission. We built an extra fuel tank in the cabin. About 2 weeks before a 747SP set an around the world speed record flying with very favorable winds. The CEO at Gulfstream knew the G-IV could beat it and started checking the jet stream. He found the jet stream wasn’t going to deviate much from what the 747 had and decided to put all his best people on it. We did it. It was a shitload of work with very little time
