Your city has decided to build a statue or monument to honor a famous person in your country?

Argh. I honestly don't know. We don't have any key figures that really stand out to me - they are all so flawed in my opinion (and not in an endearing way). I can't think of anyone who isn't already memorialised!
I'd probably choose Fiona Wood. She's a plastic surgeon from my hometown who's made huge contributions to burn research (especially after the Bali Bombing). She invented "spray-on-skin". Nice lady, too.
Nice! :)

I have no idea, but my town has a random Benjamin Franklin statue in the middle of our downtown city square, haha. They just put it in one day and I was like WTF? It's cool but it seems pretty random. =P
Haha :)
Jack Layton.

Robocop
For those of you who don't get the joke... There is a city in the states (I think in Michigan?) Where robo cop was set at. The mayor in order to increase travel there started a poll as to whom they should erect a statue of... The town overwhelmingly voted for robocop... hahah
Even though there is one already in the country, I'd go with Thomas Jefferson. TJ is a hero- an intellectual, our country's framer, and a person with beyond impressive qualities :)

We already have a few statues in my city. The last one I remember that was erected was to a famous architect that had a lot of influence on the style of the city.

Hey, it would be hilarious to see how people would vandalize it.
Terry Fox. Yeah, there's a statue of him somewhere else, but I don't care.
MLK, Jr. Enough said.
