Muslims : Does Zina include making out ?

I am referring to all people who are concerned with religion, if you are atheist or whatever else, don't bother to answer.

Anyway, I do know Zina means intercourse and it is one of the biggest sins a person could do .. but how about making out ? Is it considered Zina? I mean I know it's still a sin, but is it as huge as Zina ?

I sometimes feel guilty for making out with my boyfriend ( both virgins and plan to wait till marriage) .. however we love each other so much that we get to hug and kiss each other.. It is nowhere close lust, it is pure love. . and I do enjoy it so much , but then I feel really depressed that I am such a big sinner..

What are your thoughts on this issue ?

Some people I asked consider making out of two mature persons a sign of love..a sin is when you steal or affect someone negatively.. however making out makes two persons happy, so why should it be considered a sin ? I know most people take this for granted and girls kiss around 40 guys in their lifetime .. but I am talking about the mature adults who are aware of the dif. between love and lust ..

Sex isn't bad within itself actually. I'm guessing Zina refers to sex for lust.

Your not a sinner for kissing your guy lol - kissing is a simple expression of affection. If that's bad, then so is hugging, gentle touching, and cuddling.

Sometimes sins make you happy - sometimes sins don't negatively affect anyone but yourself in a way.

In christianity - simply thinking lustfully about someone is considered a sin. No one is getting hurt or negatively impacted at all by lustful thoughts - yet it's still a sin.

But yea - I'd say it's not a sin or violation to express your affection for the one you love. It's definitely not a lust thing, so your in the clear for that.

However - lust is more likely to happen when your being intimate like that though - kissing leads to touching - touching to love making - so just keep that in mind.

But if your disciplined enough ( or fearful enough lol,) then you'll probably be okay.

Lust is going to happen eventually between you two - it's your bodies natural response for reproductive reasons - but you express that you love him so your good there.

if you want to stick to Muslim values and teachings fully mate, you're not even supposed to be kissing your boyfriend. or have one for that matter.. and yes, it is part of zina.

What does the Qur'an say about it. Then check the laws of Grand Ayatollah Seestani. I did, and there's only one ayah that contains the word 'intercourse' and it's applied to wives. I don't know what the word for 'making out' would be.

However, the laws of Seestani have numerous entries on intercourse.



People interpret Islamic doctrine differently. One father drowned his three daughters for making out, ostensibly for shaming the family's honor. Others may not go to this length.

Think about where your guilt comes from. Is it self-generated, or driven by societal expectations? You may wish to ask a few (not only one!) Imams.

Love, not lust? That is so understandable.

No one can give you an 'easy' answer. This is something that you have to think about and come to a decision. But don't berate yourself if you think it's OK and do it. You may not have fully thought it out and are (still) ambivalent.

The conservative course is not necessarily the best or correct one.

Yeah having sex would make you two happy, then why would that be considered a sin? It's called "making love" for a reason.

Yea good point.. but Intercourse is clearly stated to be a sin because other complications.. I was wondering though if making out is the same as sex.. in Islam.

In a culture where women are covered by a hijab, you're asking if making out is a sin?

Don't pretend to rationalize that it's not. You know it is a sin but your religious faith is making you feel guilty. Would you ever start making out in front of your mullah? Would he approve?

Of course not. If you're going to be religious, be consistent with your faith. If not, then just go all out.

Zina is the 2nd biggest sin after Shirq in Islam. In islam there is no concept of Zina. Only marriage to some one if you interested him/her.
