Sleeping is such a somber activity. It represents the end of the day, as the night calmness creates the subconscious feeling of being alone and that "it's over" (it, being the day). This, coupled with the relaxation, leads to your eyes "crying".
Ha I'm just kidding. I suppose it just has to do with gravity and the placement of your eyelids. When you're upright (or upside down), your eyelids have that "rim" where your eyelashes come out of. This keeps everything in. But if you're laying down, the moisture in your eyes gravitates towards the corner of your eyes where there is no rim.
That would be my guess.

This is a random idea but are you facing a window or something? I know whenever there are fans in the room I tear up because of the wind blowing in my eyes
Yep, sometimes. I have named it "leaky eye syndrome."
Do you like that?
no, but sometimes the slightest wind make my eyes tear, which is annoying.

That does happen to me also but not all the time. I tried once to find out why but it may be just because of the way you are lying down and the angle you are at. Some people have moist eyes and some don't so when you are on your side it is easier to have tears fall from the corners of your eye if you have excess moisture there.
Do you have allergies or wear contacts or something?
Idk but when I yawn tears will drip down my face lol it's pretty bad :p
Yeah this happens to me too! Whenever I lay on my side on a certain angle it does this. I wish I knew why it happened.. damn Google! ;)
