Why is nudity a big deal?

Every other creature on the planet walks, flies, swims or slithers around completely naked and unashamed. Humans are the smartest and most advanced yet we are the only species that is ashamed of our natural state, a state that really there are only two basic models and everyone knows the format of these two designs, there is really very little difference we can make in our particular appearance so why be ashamed of our bodies?

According to the instruction manual, God intended for man and woman to procreate, and as an incentive he provided us with a natural attraction to one another for this very purpose. Your question indicates that you recognize the effect but not the cause, which always puzzles me.

Not sure I get your last sentence. Sure I recognize natural attraction between the sexes for procreation and pleasure but that happens whether clothing is there or not. I am not convinced that God created humans to have clothing on, Adam and Eve did not. Further, nudity was not such a taboo in Biblical times, hedonism yes but not nudity, if you look deeper than the current day Victorian era type mentality.

What happened immediately after Adam and Eve sinned and became cognizant of good and evil? They noticed that they were naked and became so self-conscious of the fact that they covered themselves. Nuff said.

So the Devil put that self-consciousness in their consciousness to obscure the beauty that God created? God didn't seem to mind that they were nude, he created them that way and interacted many times with them before they "sinned". He could have put clothing on them or covered them with fur if he was offended. God gave them clothing or skins because of their embarrassment, not his. But this only begs the question, why the self-consciousness? This is really not a religious question to me.

Not at all a "religious" question to be sure. But as it's about our essence, it's necessarily about God. We're all born with "moral motions". When one person steals from another we all agree that it's an injustice. Why? When a stong person abuses a weaker one, we all take exception. Why? When someones hat gets blown from the head, and they're forced to chase it down the street, we all find it funny. Why. If we're attending a town meeting and a man removes his clothes, we're all offended. Why?

It seemed like your answer was the only rational one. At this point in my life, nudity just seems comfortable and natural. I just don't see what the big deal is if someone (male or female) sees someone else's genital, we all knew they had them!

Because every other creature got natural "clothing" - the ancestors of humans and other primates had fur! Other mammals also have fur!

Humans don't have fur!

In an evolutionary process it was 'lost' because humans were the only animals who were cunning enough to skin beasts and to wear their pelts as clothing.

In nature it goes that way - what is not used is considered as something troublesome and within enough generations it's removed.

..the only 'naked' animal I could think of right now is a Sphynx cat, and it was made by deliberate selection anyway instead of appearing naturally.

Seals got fur, fishes got scales, insects got outer skeleton, about snakes I kinda agree.. but they're always lurking around in forests and swamps, so they very rarely are 'exposed'

Clothes serve a practical purpose which is why humans evolved to wear them. They protect us from the elements and also allow us to express ourselves. We don't have fur or shells to protect us, and it has also evolved to be our way of showing status amongst ourselves.

I, for one, dig clothes because they protect me from the elements. We aren't covered in fur or blubber either.
