First rule of thumb: forget about what's popular and wear what YOU like, whatever that may be. Dress for yourself, not others.
Personally, I like Forever 21 better even though I almost never go there, because they have a wider variety of items that appeal to different people and styles. I've never bought anything at Hollister because the clothes they carry cater mainly to one type of style, and I don't really like anything they have there, except I think like a pair of shoes I saw once when I went with a friend. They also overprice their items. For the quality of their clothing, the prices are ridiculous. So many of their things just have huge Hollister logos all over it, and otherwise have no unique style or designs to them, in which case when you buy those items, you're paying for the BRAND, not the clothing, and you become an advertising billboard for them. Other things are cute, but still not really my style, and are still overpriced. Forever 21 isn't the best quality either, but their prices are more affordable for what you're getting, and they have a lot more different kinds of things to choose from.
That being said, that's how I feel about them. I don't usually shop at malls anyway because the closest one is out of town and they're expensive, and I don't really enjoy the atmosphere, plus a bunch of other people will be wearing the same things I am and I like to do my own thing. I buy clothes wherever I see something I like that I can justify paying what they're asking for it, whether it be a more expensive local independently owned shop, or a thrift store. I don't avoid trends, but I don't follow them either. If I like something and it happens to be 'in style', I'll wear it, and if it's not 'in style' but I like it, I'll STILL wear it because *I* like it.
You should buy what YOU like. If that's Hollister, cool, if it's Forever 21, cool, or mix it up and get things from both. Don't worry what the other kids are doing. If you don't like something, you shouldn't buy or wear it just because everyone else thinks it's cool. Do YOU and screw everyone else, it's way cooler to dance to the beat of your own drum, and you'll probably learn that way more as you get older. High school is so much about popularity and fitting in and herd mentality, but life after high school is quite a bit different and you'll see that those things don't matter as much as you think they do now, in the 'real world'. =]
I'm not trying to talk down to you at ALL or come off snobby or superior, so I'm sorry if that's how this all sounds, I just think you could benefit from what I've suggested WHILE you're still in that high school world, because so many people who cling to the high school mentality end up shocked and lost when it's all over and they realize that none of that stuff really matters anymore, and have trouble figuring out who they really are. Best of luck to you. =]

I'm not really a fan of either but here's some food for thought
1) Forever 21 is cheaper, so you get more for your money
2) There is a larger selection of clothes at Forever 21, that can fit different styles
3) Hollister makes nice fitting jeans, and the material used for their shirts is pretty comfy
4) All of Hollister's clothes look similar. They reuse the same colors and patterns and slap their logo on everything
Maybe buy one or two things at Hollister and get the rest at Forever 21.
Personally I like resale shop hunting, and the Internet
Hollister is way to plain and boring for me everyone who shops there looks the same. There's nothing different and cool about it. Forever21 is versatile, fun, it allows you to play around with different styles and patterns. You get to really express your own personal style, the jewelry is to die for as well as the hats. If there was one place I had to shop at for the rest of my life it would definitely be Forever21 without a doubt.
I definitely get most of my clothes from there, especially my dresses. Plus you can look "pow" at affordable prices lol
Neither, but be a real hipster and buy your clothing at the thrift store or make threads out of it.

Personally, Hollister is way too overpriced. They have the most basic shirts that range from $30-40, just for a shirt. I think Forever21 has some pretty reasonable prices, but then again, their quality of clothing isn't all there. But, I'd choose Forever21 all the way. I love that store.
We only have Hollister in the UK and the clothes there are pretty boring and samey, not to mention over priced for the simple designs and material. Shop online, plenty of bargains and loads of hidden treasures, can't go wrong.
XP Well I have never brought something from either store but I will go with Forever 21 because they have more variety and their name isn't plastered all over the clothes.
I think Forever 21 is cheaper and has more variety, so I'd rather shop at Forever 21 C:
personally I don't like either but if I had to choose I'd go with Forever 21. there's more variety and its not so overpriced.
I wonder if they should change the site title to "girlsaskgirls"...then again
Forever 21...but I suprisingly I rarely go there.
Such an earth shattering decision.
