Do you like getting shots (injections/vaccines)?

All of my friends/family hate going to the doctor because of the possibility of having to get their blood drawn or getting a vaccine. I like it. Anyone else like it? And if you do, do you know why you like it?

Why do you like it? I do not mind it...but giving blood is traumatic..they had to put a bag over my head twice...I gave 7 of my 8 pints and quit..I told them that, if they wanted my blood, then they would have to take it right away and THEN process me...but no one tells the Red Cross what to do..so I quit..too bad though..my blood is O negative and they need that...o.O

I have injections, vaccines, blood work etc at least once a week and it's been like this for many years. I've become desensitized to it. Honestly, I usually hate the results more than I hate the test itself.

Just epilepsy, narcolepsy, tardive dyskinesia, raynauds disease and a bunch of tests for a hodgepodge of symptoms that my doctors believe is pointing to a lysosomal storage disease. On the other hand, I'm alive, walking and am going back to college on Sunday. Saw my girlfriend a couple weeks ago and spoke to her yesterday. I'd say I'm managing through it. Shit happens. I have to deal with it- and I've learned to.

Thanks. After awhile this kind of stuff becomes routine and you just don't seem to care about it anymore. As great as it is to not be afraid of it, this is the wrong way to go about achieving that goal.

After years of this, you get desensitized and it no longer matters. Therefore, no nervousness, no anxiety and no pain (except the pain that is responsible for the needs of these tests).

I love having blood drawn at the doctors XD It is always fun spurt out into the little vials. I also give blood whenever I can. It is just a fun experience and the fact that I can potentially help another person makes it even better :) Shots are okay... I won't do a back flip over them.

i don't mind injections ... makes me feel tough lol... I've got quiet a few stiches and injuries all my life, injections don't seem that bad... but my brother cries out loud just seeing an injection :)

I wouldn't say I'm thrilled at the opportunity to have a need but I give myself deep tissue injections twice a week and it doesn't bother me. At least when you go to the hospital to get injections you have the sexy nurses around :P

What about the doctors for you then? :P And its for illness gets the meds right into the blood stream. The reason for deep tissue is the size of the injection. When only giving 1cc you can put it in your arm but when dosing with greater amounts bigger muscles are better so your thiegh or bum

I used to be scared to death of needles, had to go into hospital when I was about 12 for blood tests, it took my mum and 4 nurses to hold me still for the Dr to put that tap thing in my wrist.

Anyway now, I couldn't care less about them, the only time I hate vaccines are if they're are the ones that make you feel bad for a few days after

I don't LIKE it but I don't dislike it. The only place I wouldn't want an injection is in my mouth. On my arm or whatever though, I don't mind.

usually they numb the mouth before injecting anyways...so that would be painless. but I don't really like the idea of oral injections either.

Oh yeah! It excites me! I LOVE watching the blood drain like water into those needles man, it's mesmerizing as f***! And I love when they replace the receptacle and keep on drawing out quarts and quarts of blood man. It's intense!

Sick. Nobody would get a thrill from getting bloods taken. Especially if the nurse/dr. who is taking it can't get the vein - you'll end up with a big bruise.. that'll teach you.

that's happened to me before, but it doesn't bother me. if you don't freak out, the phlebotomist has an easier time of locating a better vein.

Most phlebotomists shouldn't have problems with veins of young people (esp. over antecubital fossa). You can't go vasospastic that badly unless you have Raynaud's or something.

That said, you haven't seen some people who straight up faint when the needle goes in.

that's my point exactly. blood-drawing/injections shouldn't be such a traumatizing experience... it's a needle going into your arm (or wherever), not an ax.

My 16 years old self had to wait 3 hours to get vaccinated and spent every second with worrying, but when i got it, it didn't hurt much. I dunno if i liked it or just love the fact that i don't fear it anymore but i just can't wait to get my second shot, i get excited when i think about it!

I'm a saint! =D I seriously have never had a problem with injections, and I go every year for my flu shot and I watch when they do it. I've had a couple of nurses say DON'T LOOK! They get freaked out by my curiosity... I always screw with them. =P
