Difference between Bro and homie?

ok, so guy I'm currently Talking to tells me if I was a "bro" he would have told me already, and that I'm a "homie" I'm not getting it. to me they are both the same. Moreover, we just went to the movies this past week and he didn't do anything a NORMAL guy would at the movies. (let down much)..we do little date things like coffee and lunch. what the HECK is the difference. Or is this one of those crazy guy things that make no sense, but to other guys.

Bro can be pretty much anyone including someone you don't like. Homies are close friends.
