How long does walmart keep their security footage?

About 4 months ago I let my little brother drive my car to walmart while I was passenger. He's too young and I shouldn't of let him. Anyway now he's trying to get me in trouble with my mom because he stole my grandmas car and he's trying to bring up this old incident. My mom said she's going to check security footage of the parking lot. How long does walmart keep their footage? And can anyone just ask to see it or will she need special permission?

Walmart won't just let anyone look at their security footage. You'd have to have some sort go legal reason to do so and usually accompanied by law enforcement to solidify that. Besides, I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to prove in relation to him and your mom. That by showing the video of him behind the wheel you won't be accused of taking your grandma's car? Even if that may help you in regards to that, you let him drive your car to begin with (which is likely putting your mom at risk since I'm assuming she's probably the policy holder, so you'd be in trouble anyway).

I doubt they still have the footage and even if they did they are not going to let her see it.

What does your mom do at wal-mart? I seriously doubt they would let just any employee access the video footage, just 3 guys could plan a robbery, 2 robbers one employee, the employee could just erase the footage of the other 2 guys.

And for other reasons such as employees stealing.

So your mom would have to be a manager or a guard or I don't know something lol.

she doesn't even work there. She wants to ask the manager to look at the parking lot videos from that night to see who was driving.

A private company will never give that type of footage without a warrant.

An honestly, you didn't do anything that wrong. It's quite common that teenagers drive without licence, accompanied by an adult.

Probably not more than a week, and they likely wouldn't let anyone who is not law enforcement see it. You fess up to your mom and tell her what you did, and take the consequences like a big girl.

Lol, you're mom is bluffing. Even if she thinks she'll get to see some video footage I assure you that there'll be none to see. 4 months is going back too far for anything short of rape/robbery or murder.
