Job keeps sending me home early and it's cutting into my hours

I pretty much have to work 40hrs or more per week to make things work otherwise it's ends up being where I only have money to pay bills and then none is left to have any fun. Lately I've noticed the workers keep going home early. Like Friday they leave at 4 or 4:30 and or it could be cause it's slow and their isn't much business so they will leave at 3. I think I'm one of the few hourly employees at my job so we try to work as much as possible while the others want to work the least they can. So basically I end up being 10 hours short come payday and that takes a big hit on my budget. So I don't know what to do. I got the job with the understanding that I was going to get 40hrs/week.

In this day in our society, where it is tough to earn a buck, let alone a big buck, I was always told to stick with what you have until you find a new job. Makes sense. I also heard to hang on to the job you have, you will be earning more eventually, it pays more than a lot of jobs out there. Or the grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence. I have heard it all, sweetie, believe me.

Many people today still live hand to mouth, as you know, so I guess you are no exception. And it IS hard, when you bring home the bread and by the time you slice it and give what you have to away, there is nothing left but crumbs.

If you are saying your hours are being cut as well, then I would imagine things in a few months should go back to normal, where you will be getting more hours again. This is the time of year, where many people even are getting laid off from their jobs. Yes, and many of their hours and--days--have been drastically cut. It's hard when they have a mortgage and six kids to feed and clothe, and even their wives pitch in if they are working, to help make ends meet.

I don't know how long you have been there, but if I were you, and being things are so bad out there, stick it out, work as many hours as you can possibly get, and wait for things to slowly go back to the "40 hrs or more per week," which should happen in a few months.Bite the bullet for now, and just thank God you are not one of the thousands on unemployment.xx

I don't really see the problem, the others leave early, okay, but does that have to mean you have to leave early too? If they leave and close the building, yes, you have to leave early too. But if they just leave and let you do your work, why would you leave early?

Anyway, if you feel obligated to leave early, have a talk with your boss about it and ask how you can still get your 40 hours a week.

yeah they close down the building. I don't have a key so I have to leave.

Talk to the management.

Ask to be the "closer"

Get a second job.

I work full time and I still have nothing left over for fun. This is just the way it goes for many people these days.
