+1 ynobody can beat a suckerpunch out of nowhere. real fights are nothing like in martial arts movies. in real life it's just one hit and one goes down in 99% if the cases (if there was such intention for violence in the first place)...
but if you pitch a female martial artist and a reasonably fit man with no idea about martial arts in a fighting position, where both are prepared to be attacked and supposed to knock the other out as fast as possible, i think a man would still have the higher chances die to pure strength and mass advantage.21 Reply- +1 y
also on average male reaction times are ever so slightly quicker than females. that's another edge they get.

+1 yThe average guys knows next to nothing about fighting, when I did martial arts size was a minor advantage but the top girls could beat anyone below 3rd degree black belt pretty easily

No, it means she has learned the required material to get that far but it rarely involves anything more than technique. It takes a lot of work but that doesn't mean she can fight. Doesn't mean she can't either, but I wouldn't be scared of a purple belt, she knows how to punch and some fighting but hasn't trained to actually fight
Yeah of course, the female would know what sort of techniques she would need to use to win the fight. Just because men are physically, naturally stronger doesn’t mean anything when the female has been trained.

Being bigger and stronger means something though. I remember when Serena and Venus Williams challenged the 200 and something ranked guy to tennis. That guy played 18 rounds of golf and had a few beers before beating them both back to back. He lost one of the sets. Then he said something like he barely tried and didn't think they could realistically beat a top 600 male tennis player.

That’s where you’re being incredibly sexist. They’re far from the same, one is based on physical protection/ attack and the other is on hitting a ball. A great female mma fighter could easily take down another male mma fighter, stealth and skill is also applicable not just strength. You clearly have never met a strong and focused woman before.

You don't have to insult me. I'm not trying to be sexist. I never said they are the same. I understand what playing tennis and fighting is. I'm not retarded lol. My opinion is based on men having such a clear physical advantage. I think we both agree that strength and speed are determined by physical ability. I think because men are on average (especially when it comes to top end athletes) far superior to women regarding physical activity it gives them the advantage to dominate in both activities.
The truth is for Serena Williams to be able to beat the 600th best man is actually a tremendous physical accomplishment for a woman. She can do that because of how exceptional of a woman athlete she is. I guess you see that as sexist but that's not how I mean it. Everything is so terrible and sexist and dramatic nowadays in the mainstream. In reality though, people aren't that bad. - +1 y
What stereotype?
The question is about a female martial artist which is broad. A girl that did taekwondo at the local shop is a martial artist. I agree with you the average professional female mma would destroy an average guy. I kinda said that in my answer, "If you mean a female martial artists with fighting training, she has a good chance I think. If you mean somebody who's done martial arts for a couple years in a studio, I doubt it." What I mean earlier is I didn't think the top mma female fighter could do much to the worst pro male mma fighter. She'd get destroyed i m o. Maybe a female has fought a male pro? I doubt that though. If one had a chance against a pro male fighter, I think it would have happened. It may have actually.
Of course, size doesn't matter, even smaller fighters can defeat big and strong guys like Bob Sapp. Martial arts are about speed and skills, not about physical strength.

+1 yYes, it's happened multiple times... what kind of random sexist question is that lol? If a woman is skilled in martial arts and self-defense she could easily beat the shit out of an attacker. Martial Arts teaches you ways of outmaneuvering and taking advantage of cleanly taking out or disabling your opponent/attacker.

Guys have a huge advantage or head start.10 ReplyWhat's her rank and how long has she trained?
Is she trained in an armed martial art or empty-hand?
She's trained in which martial art (s)?12 Reply

Well wing Chun for one
Well, taking from my expierence I'd say she definitely could if the fight is fair. Barring surprise attacks, slippery surface, objects involvement etc, female martial artist should easily cope with an average guy. I sparred couple of times with 52 kg pro-kickboxer who is just 20 years old and here is what I learned:
- I could have ended up in hospital if she had not insisted to wear protection helmets,
- Body mass is overrated in terms of fighting, being 30 kg heavier did not help me much,
- I was stronger on the floor, but her superior technique still was enough to put me into submission couple of times,
- In the standing positions she left me with no chance. Her kicks were so fast, that I was not able to block them.
- I fell to the ground several times and only managed to take her down just once.
- After fight she told me she was using like 75% of her full force. I was humiliated. Actually she laughed at me.00 Reply
Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yShe'd understand leverage, balance and things like that and would win, yes.
30 ReplyNot saying I'd like to be in that situation, but if I were, I really like my odds, due to my training and fitness level.
00 ReplyAre we talking about the average person who does martial arts? If so no. Doing martial arts and a street fight are completely different things most martial artist would get flattened in a street fight.
00 Reply555 opinions shared on Sports topic. Yes, they know all the moves. Thay can strike fast and repel any blow that you might throw. Before you know it you will be beaten.
00 ReplyYes, if she is fit and a reasonable size. I don't think a girl the size of Simone Biles could beat a guy the size of Shaq O'Neal regardless of how well-trained she was.

+1 yOf course, beacuse she is more experience, more training, and has better fight moves than an average person
