That’s fucked up, haha.
But a side story: when I was a young buck, this guy got drafted in the first round by my Patriots (spoiler alert: he sucked, lmao). But I bought in because I was a little kid and didn’t know any better. I assumed he’d be a student because of where he was drafted, even though the Pats were TERRIBLE and clearly didn’t know what the hell they were doing as an organization.
So the same year my Pop Warner football team got new uniforms, and we got to pick our own numbers. So I chose #69, Eugene Chung’s chosen number. My coaches asked what number, I announced “69!”, and of course these guys swho are all in their twenties are “oh yeah? 69, huh? Why 69?😏😏😏” I’m like 12 or 13 years old, totally oblivious to the sexual connotation, and I just say “Eugene Chung!” They all just busted out laughing, and I didn’t understand why😂😂😂 I think I figured it out later that year when some older kid saw my number when I wore it to school (we all wore them on Fridays before our games), and heard about it from there lmao.211 Reply- +1 y
Do you if you someone sucked as a player that they'll automatically suck as a coach as well?

@Jamie05rhs not at all. I mean, how many coaches in any sport were great players? Bill Belichick didn’t even play big-time college football, and never played in the pros. There’s probably somebody I’m forgetting, but I can’t think of any superstar players off the top of my head who were excellent coaches. I think with great athletes, so much comes natural to them that it’s hard to teach it to people. Shit, even as a GM, John Elway is one of the greatest QBs we’ve seen but he hasn’t been able to get the Broncos a good QB yet, maybe excluding when he signed the corpse of Peyton Manning. I’d be more wary of a big name player coming into coach. The closest I’ve seen is Mike Vrabel maybe, but he was just a good player, not a great one. I think it’s a case of the old saying: “Those who can, do. Those who can’t, teach.”

"Corpse"? Excuse me? Do you wanna fight?
(Lol jk, man. I'm just a huge Peyton Manning fan. I can't have people talkin' shit about my boy!) - +1 y
But yeah, I do agree with you on the "Those who can't do, teach" thing.

@Jamie05rhs sorry😅 I guess he had a few good years in Denver, I think I’m remembering that last season more than the others, he was all banged up that year. My point was more that it’s not like it took a keen eye for Elway to say “hmmm... you know, I think that Manning guy might be kinda good, let’s take a shot on him.” All his other QB signings have been whiffs for the most part. Brock Osweiler, Paxton Lynch, Trevor Siemien, Case Keenum, past-his-prime Joe Flacco, and Drew Lock doesn’t look like the answer either. Maybe Teddy Bridgewater can get it done for them, we’ll see.

Yeah. "A few good years". Including a Super Bowl ring. SMH

Trevor who? Lol

@Jamie05rhs hahaha... but that was the “corpse year.” Peyton can thank Von Miller & Co. for that one😜 Definitely cool to see one of the greats go out on top though👍 And he did tear it up a couple years there with Demariyus Thomas, Julius Thomas, and to a lesser degree, my dearly departed Wes Welker. I think he had that quad injury that last season though, he was barely holding it together, that’s the corpse I’m thinking of😂

That's completely disgraceful- this is an experienced former player and coach (including being an assistant coach on a Super Bowl-winning team).
But the NFL is clearly pressuring teams to hire more black coaches, so the only thing surprising here is that someone actually came out and said it to him.10 Reply

I suppose it's refreshing how they're upfront and honest about their racism. But it's still racial discrimination, which is supposed to be against the damn law.

This would have been very outrageous, happening in a relatively normal society many years ago. But we have entered into a time of such incredible weirdness and wickedness, that most of us have actually become NUMB to this stuff.

LMFAO! Sounds about right. But if you think that's bad you should talk to the 10s of thousands of hopeful college students who are told the same thing every year by universities across the country.

Well, the Rooney rule states specifically only at least one black coach has to be interviewed by teams looking to hire head coach.
Well he is. Basically off white with ginger. Simply too effectively white, in fact hyper white with the lack of convictions and police related homicides.
