Yes, Bruce Lee incorporated some elements from that Style. If you didn't watch this movie yet, I recommend watch Ip Man (1-4) starring Donnie Yen.

In a street situation there’s some aspects that might be good (such as Tony Ferguson-like elbows while someone is clinching onto you) but generally I’d say there’s more effective martial arts in a street situation than Wing Chun alone

Most people on the street aren't trained very well. They typically have some sloppy orthodox boxing stance and are focused on punching... Thus blowing out their knees works wonders especially if you are a grappler like me. No legs, no punching power... If they are off balance, they are easy to grab and slam their head into the concrete and put them to sleep. Easy peasy...
