I think they could. Ok the rules are completely different but the balls roughly the same shape and the point is to get from one side of the pitch to the other.
+1 yAre they playing rugby or football? My money is one the ones wearing hard helmets if it’s just rugby vs football, haha.
I used to play semipro football, and my coach also coached a women’s team. Some of them would show up on the sideline and check out our games sometimes, maybe give some input from what they were seeing. They knew what was up, I respected them as fellow players. A couple were BIG gals too, I bet those ones could’ve held their own against me. Much shorter than me too, and the old adage is that lowest man (or woman) wins. I’m sure that applies to tackling in rugby too, or getting leverage in the scrum. So I have no doubt that the skills could translate, and I have no questions about the toughness of a rugby player, guy or gal.
I think it would just come down to whether it was a competition of football or rugby. There would be possible size/strength/speed disparities, and also that one side will be less familiar and “automatic” if it’s not their usual game. But if you could get similarly sized men and women and eliminate size difference issues (some (many) pro and collegiate American football players are 300-350 lbs, occasionally even more). Maybe if it was like high school football players vs high school rugby players, where they aren’t all the cream of the crop in their respective sports, regular people vs regular people.
Probably comes down to size, strength, and speed, but if you gave women the advantage of playing their own game, some of those huge guys are neutralized by way of being too slow to cover the field the way you’d need to in rugby. And then there would be guys who might get broken in half if they were hit, but have blazing speed to outrun everyone. The most dangerous would probably be safeties or mobile linebackers. Super muscular 210 lbs or a slightly bulkier but still ripped as fuck 240 lbs, and they can generate speed and that speed times strength equals POWER.
This became more thought provoking than I anticipated, haha. Kinda want to see this game now😂 I wouldn’t rule out the ladies, that’s for sure, but a lot would depend on what position of football players we’re dealing with. Christ, a punter, while extremely useful for dropkicks (that’s a thing, right?😅), are usually built like average people and would probably get killed out there lmao.

+1 yOnly a few of the players on an American football team know how to handle a ball. Most only know how to block or tackle. Blocking is not allowed in rugby and tackling in rugby is a completely different skill. Plus, most American footballers are big and slow, while many rugby players are small and fast.
A good rugby team (male or female) could defeat and American football team in a rugby match... no question.10 Reply
Anonymous(25-29)+1 yI think they could but only if the traditional rules are thrown out. For example if it was allowed to strike or knee the groin this would be helpful to the women in coed if they were in clusters they could push through and control guys easily with a strike there or get guys to collapse or control better on the ground but I still don’t think it would be enough because the pro guys are really good and quite large strong and masculine but with the groin thing they’d at least have a chance to push through and win and have an answer to the strength advantage somewhat

Opinion Owner+1 yYeah like I said traditional rules and protection even would have to be thrown out to favor the women basically

well has far as a good looking ass contest yes women have the better asses. (read beyond the sex joke)
in the sport it's self no. why do you think we have separate divisions for men and women and sexes don't matter than let both men and women play in the same division and let the best people went out the issue with that is there would be no women in sports period End of story. sure a trained women could beat an untrained guy. put Iga Swiatek vs Carlos Alcaraz it would end in a clean sweep for Carlos Alcaraz. why because he's the top male tennis player in the world in 2022 and Iga Swiatek is the top women's tennis player in the world in 2022. hence why ima against males who this there women (trans women are men because trans people don't exist because no one can transition only engage in a stereotype imitation) because there men. Emma Weyant was the true finalist in the semifinals and she would have won the women's swim team race if Leah Thomas a man had never completed and then ended up throwing the raise in the finals just to prove that trans don't win everything? Donely reason he lost to women was to score political points and "own the cons"
00 ReplyI´m not sure about that since it doesn´t depend much on the size of the ball but on the strength and the resilience of the players. Take for example soccer there were certain examples in the past like in Australia a team of under aged boys (u15, meaning they had to be under 15 years or less) managed to take down the national woman´s soccer by 7-0 at the time the woman´s team wasn´t bad compared to other women´s team. T
I don´t know anything about rugby and the differences could be less obvious there so I would go in the game with no expectations.10 Reply
+1 yI think so. It's easier to run and maneuver without 50 pounds of armor on. And actually, I was watching The Amazing Race, and they had to perform drills with female Rugby players, and there was an American football player who couldn't score a field goal, and his excuse was that he was a catcher and not a kicker.

m +1 ynope...
I've taken on rugby players, before no problem... (I've tried rugby myself though)
but that was one on one, agility is very important and also skill, which there is a lot less on the rugby dynamics
but, it all depends on what the actual rules are going to be00 Reply It would heavily depend on the team from the NFL. Some of the NFLs largest guys are apsolute units. Who could in their own right like 1v2 if they had to lol.
Michael Oher in his prime was 6'4" and 309 lbs 😱like u better be praying all those pads soften the hit if he tackles or trips on ya 🤣

+1 yRugby 🏉 has shown how easy it is to crush egg balls 🏈. I would say go for it ladies, let see if nfl players can handle a scrum 🤣

+1 yAverage weight of an NFL player is 245lb and is 6'2" tall
Average weight of a female rugby player is between 147-176lb so say 161lb,
and 5'10" tallI'd say probably not
13-15 players in a Rugby team, depending on whether Union or League
11 players in NFL, so you would outnumber them at least
10 ReplyI think it's possible but there are some serious physics going on here: the American footballers are typically huge and have a tremendous capacity to run. The women would have to run a pretty strategic game.

+1 yNot likely. At the professional level the guys are far faster and stronger than any ladies rugby team. Only chance is if the guys team were composed entirely of placekickers and punters, and even then maybe not.
00 ReplyNo.
As American "football" is basically rugby with padding and a pointless passage of play.
00 Replyeasily, American football involves suits of armour, they are pussies

+1 yLmao, no 😂
The smallest player on an nfl team is probably similar size to the biggest female rugby players and the +300lb lineman are probably faster

+1 yI want to believe so, but not really a chance women could beat men in this case.
Unless the men let the women win lol
10 ReplyWould be interesting! The NFL players not used to smaller opponents. The women might have a chance!
00 ReplyLol no if dudes are breaking bones with paddings what makes u think the women build would not get snapped completely into a vegetable.
00 ReplyAbsolutely not. I don't think an adult female rugby team would be able to take on teen boys of the same sport
00 ReplyDidn't Debbie do that, all by herself?
