In which sports could women and men compete against each other?

In both women’s and men’s sports, both genders are kept apart. I’m talking about physical sports and not things like darts etc. So in which physical sports do you feel women and men could actually compete against each another?

In my martial arts class girls are only allowed to spar and compete against guys when higher ranked girls are paired up against lower ranked guys, where both head and groin guards are not allowed. This allows for a much fairer fight, but at the highest levels girls and guys are still kept apart.

So which sports could girls and guys compete against each other, whether it be under existing or modified rules to balance the sexes? Thank you.

Golf - though it's hardly a sport - car and horse racing, with hockey, too.

The issue is not so much the challenge to compete, but the marketability and sponsorship of the events.

No point having hundreds of male and female athletes and sports professionals - but no money to be made, or ability to pay anyone in or around the sports.

It's one reason I get pissed when people talk up female sports like it should be getting paid "same" as men. Dimwits don't understand it's not money being pulled from someone's ass. There are millions in daily and yearly shirt sales, ticket sales, marketing, franchise etc etc.

Female sports will get there too eventually as the game, interest and athletes develops. Right now in most sports you can barely name a couple of big female names. Hence how they expect them to be paid like their male counterparts, just for being female, is laughable.

Women and men could conceivably compete against each other in any sport, but that doesn't mean it would be a good idea. There's no question women would get badly hurt if men didn't go easier on them than they did on male competitors.

But that doesn't just affect the women, it affects the men too, and the entire game or match. I played football in high school and there was a girl on the team of a rival school. The guys on that team referred to her as their secret weapon, not because she was very good, but because it messed with the heads of guys on the teams they played against. Many guys were afraid to hurt her, so they didn't play the same way they would otherwise. That is unfair to the guys, and the sport.

For some context, this was the sport we call football here in the US, which is a contact sport in a different way.

Tag rugby can be mixed. It's the same as normal rugby but you pull the tag rather than full on tackle so there's less chance of girls injuring guys.

I agree with pool and darts 👍 I was thinking more about physical sports though. My martial arts class only allows girls to spar and compete against guys when the girl is a higher rank, and no groin protection is allowed so that full contact kicks to the guy’s balls are a guaranteed win. But unless the rules of any physical sport are modified to balance the sexes, I’m not sure if there are any physical sports where girls and guys could compete against each other.

If the girl is at a higher level than the guy, and if it’s a combat sport where the girl is allowed to use a ‘low blow’ and kick to his unprotected groin, then that really make things more competitive 👍 but if it’s just girl vs guy at the same level and under standard rules, then it’s always going to be difficult for the girl, yes.

Men aren't allowed to wear athletic cups? That's the dumbest shit I have ever heard. Cups don't stop them from feeling pain, it protects them from serious injuries.

Women know the physical disadvantage they are putting themselves in when they compete against men. That shouldn't become the man's problem. If you want an equal playing field, compete against women.

To answer the question, I don't think there is any need for men and women to compete against each other.

All club members sign up to the rules before they are allowed to spar and compete. By not wearing any groin protection it further guarantees the win when I kick full contact to the guy’s balls. Girls don’t wear them either though, and yes, we know taking on a guy also has its risks too. I do understand your opinion though, thank you.

Men who agree to it are stupid but that doesn't make it any less of a stupid idea. It's like not wearing a mouthguard.

You could still beat a guy with a solid kick while he's wearing a cup. it's like wearing a helmet. You get hit hard enough, and you'll feel it, but you're less likely to get her skull cracked. It makes absolutely no sense. I just don't understand the logic behind it.

To be fair, most of those aren't really "sports" when strictly defined.
