People should play sports based on ability not gender. Women only recently have had access to real equipment and training bc funding alwats favored men. Women are advancing at much higher rates compared to men in reference to where they were a decade or so ago. This will only continue with increased training. Muscle mass in its own dies not make a good athlete. There are many other factors and combination of factors. If someone can meet demands to get in a team they should have entry.
I don’t see the picture where it says we only want to compete with men— that’s impossible. Women can’t comprte if it’s onky with men bc then there’s be no women competing... Sounds like it was written just to make people look stupid for wanting to play sports not play gender.
Yes like gymnastics, ballet too though its not a sport.
You realise how many gymnasts and ballerinas have crippling joint and spinal problems. How many gymnasts have broke their backs. Arthritis is very painful to live with.

There's a story out of Seattle, where a feminist sports reporter claimed she was being discriminated against. She said it wasn't fair that she wasn't allowed in the Seahawks' locker room. She complained that her male counterparts had an edge over her, and were scooping the story.
She mistakingly thought her cause would win the hearts and minds of her fellow sisters. LOL
NOPE. All the mothers with daughters, called in and wanted to rip her head off.
Because if you allow THAT, then you have to allow male reporters in their daughters' locker rooms. :) Suffice it to say that she lost her cause.

I think segregated sports is fine and am ok with the initial usage of title IX in this case. Title IX was about providing equal access to facilities on the basis of sex in education. It was basically just stating that the CRA applies to schools which receive public funding.
The interesting issue comes in with transgender and it’ll come up whether we interpret the CRA as protecting gender or sex.
I think for women transgender women sets them back if allowed to compete.

There are SOME sports however where I think mixed teams would be possible and perhaps even beneficial. For example curling or bob riding. I also think tennis is one of those sports where it'd be fair to have a woman compete against a man. Admittedly though, I'm not exactly a tennis expert.
I think your wrong about the Tennis. I know that movie where Billie Jean king defeats that guy and proves women are as equal to men just came out but Serena and Venus in back to back matches were challenged by karsten Braach who was no206 in the world at the time, after a round of golf and a few beers he hammered them. Now that's an average proffessional male tennis player up against the two best women's tennis players in the world. Also though women get equal pay to men in tennis they do play two less sets.
What do you think makes the big difference? Cuz tennis is not so much about running...
Power, speed, reactions. There can be a lot of running in tennis unless your switz legend Rodger Federer, he plays on suchbaway that he's always in the right postion to return a volley, playing it in such a way that he knows where his opponent will hit it.

u In case anyone hasn't noticed, there are differences between men and women. If you want to ignore obvious significant differences, we could say that it is ageist to have 9-10 year old boys not complete against 14-15 year old boys in football.
Okay here's the thing. I have two suggestions on how to solve this issue.
1# Make only one league with both/all (if you believe in them) sexes. This way to everyone will fight in an equal level. And what you identify is would be important. A man would be able to fight against a much weaker woman cause they would be a big difference in their scores. Best man and women will fight each other, and the weaker ones won't be able to fight them untill that can stand thear ground.
2# I you believe that gender and sex are two different things why don't just say that sex is what you physically are and gender is what you identify as. This way we can make stuff like sport, which are purely physical, into man and woman decided by sex. If your a transgender man you will still fight in the woman's league cause what you feel like doesn't matter in sports. And I believe this sistem could be used in other similar situations like with toilets. A transgender woman won't be able to creep on other woman in a woman bathroom because going to the bathroom is something purely physical and thus would be judged by sex not gender.
Tell me what you think. I think this would satisfy both parties.
Logic dictates that, no, we should not. It doesn't take a genius to acknowledge that on average, men tend to be physically stronger and faster. Women tend to be far more flexible. It's just a fact of life. Of course there are a lot of factors and exceptions, but the type of hormones your body produces is a very, very big factor.
Being trans, and particularly biologically male, gives an athlete a physical edge. After all, testosterone is a natural anabolic steroid.
I'm curious I'd come has done some peer-reviewed scientific recital that compares the rate of athletic success in trans vs. non-trans folk.
Honestly... I come from a more traditional view of things and I believe that sports should be divided by gender, where possible. (example of not possible: my high school didn't have enough girls interested to make a girls' hockey team, so they let girls try out for the boys team)
What if there were not enough boys for a boys hockey team, would you be in favour of them trying out for the girls?

I don't know. I am perfectly willing to admit that in most cases boys are faster and stronger than girls and it wouldn't necessarily be fair to put boys on a girls team. I think maybe in that case the school would have to look into doing coed competitions
Well if it's not fair to put boys on girls teams why would it be fair for a boy to lose a team spot to a girl?
I guess I wasn't thinking about it that way, I was thinking in terms of being fair to the teams they would be playing against. If there's one or two girls who can play at the level of boys, that's kinda cool and special, whereas putting boys on a girls team would put an unfair advantage for competitions.
@evm987 interesting. I went to a very small school so we had to mix genders for all sports, which worked out decently well. From my experience though, guys don't really like playing with or against girls. You have to go easier on them and so it hurts the feeling of competition. Few men are going to want to check a girl in hockey, they tend to get hurt easier which hurts the flow of the game, and the general skill difference tends to make it annoying and less enjoyable for guys on both teams.
I will admit that some girls can play on a mens level, there were two girls in my highschool that competed very well with the guys, but they were never as good as the most competitive male players. If the school size allows it then segregated is best in my opinion. That said, as long as they don't go easy on the girls I don't see a big issue, it's just that from my experience it can cause issues with competitiveness.
As an alternative solution, what if you allowed only guys who tried out and couldn't make the men's team tryout for the women's team, to fill the required slots? Thus letting less skilled men enter the womens team to practice at more of their own skill level and the competitiveness of both sports is more or less intact?
@devilman666 from what I heard, the few girls on the hockey team fit in pretty well and it didn't seem to hurt the competitive spirit

I already said that I agree that sports should be segregated by gender. My idea was simply an alternate solution to what your school did with putting women on mens team.
How so? It would let men fill the missing slots by not having enough girls. If it's okay for women who play at a similar level to be on a men's team, then shouldn't men who play on a similar level be allowed to compete on women's teams if there aren't enough female players? How is it preferable to have a female player on a male team rather than vice versa?

I am going with separating the events. In my views both males and females have physical traits that could be of benefit over the other sex.
As way of example, generally speaking (not always true in all cases) males grow stronger than females during the teen years. As a result this means males usually can lift more weight than females. Making females compete against males would be a disadvantage to females. There are many other examples where females would be advantaged, etc.
The only sports were mixed sexes would work would be mind games like chest, poker, etc.

Honestly, I feel if they want to get killed, give them a chance. But on the other hand, I prefer having men's leagues and women's leagues. Men and women compete at different levels.

They shouldn't get equal pay as men unless they compete against them. Using tennis as an example, the women get the same pay as the men, but only compete at a level of a man that makes 2% of the pay.

Women participating in men's sports won't change anything for men as they are still gonna dominate , but women could forget about the idea of being champion as that's never gonna happen. I think they should be allowed. I see everyone is talking about women being physically weaker than men. And, while I think generally speaking that's correct, that isn't always the case. So, is it fair that the women who are physically gifted can't compete against men? I don't think so.

Realistically if qe have mixed teams then the only way to make it work would be to force teams to have a certain number of female players and rules ensuring they get game time. simply put if male athletes outperform female ones (as they generally seem to do) then only male players would get to play.
All sports are segregated based on maturity, the human body, and skill. For example you wouldn't want an NFL lineman playing on a pop warner kids football team. Also you can't see a division III making it very far quarterbacking an SEC school. This is done because it helps keep the sport competitive and allows the athletes to achieve based on hard work and dedication. So no, keep the sports as they are currently set up.
Sports of that caliber should be seperated due to safety and having an equal playing field. Sports like pool, darts, or chess (anything like this) should be open to both men and women alike because neither has a biological advantage over the other

No. Men are more athletic then women they are stronger and faster physically. I would hate to see women on the football field agenst men a 150 pound women vs a 300 pound guy that’s a Recipe for disaster, the women probably would brake something or get a concussion or worse.
There are 150 pounds guys gong against 300 pound guys. I know some and they have the memory of a gold fish... and whilst a star in college they now drive Uber for a living... bc they can do it following god and don’t need to think much.
It is not uncommon for major brain damage by mid30s or earlier or lifetime injuries, for former football professionals.

Has far as ability goes, football is a sport really only men can do, I’ve know girls who would be great quarterbacks but I would hate to see them get hit by a linebacker or a linemen they would be crushed.
Unfortunately most sports game do result in people getting maimed for life. (Just not usually there heads). Baseball players mainly suffer knee injury’s and a lot have a tough time after 35 they can last tell there in there 40 but that’s rare. I don't know much about basketball or European football but I have heard it can cause concussion and knee injuries as well
Obviously depends on sport - Physique based it can be tried but men should sweep the board - Non physique based sports pool, snooker, darts etc I don't see why not

Personally given the state of affairs we are in today. I think we should require male participation in female events. Like affirmative action kinda. Then maybe people will realize just how stupid it would s to have men in women’s sports.

Women have their own sports for a reason. There wouldn't be much female winners if they had to compete against men. At least when strengh is a big factor in the sport. But If a women qualifies, and is better than her male competitors, I don't see a reason not to let her play in a major league like NBA or something. After all getting the best players would be in the teams interest.
It's scientifically proven that, on average, men have better physical performances than women and there are plenty of empirical evidence to back this up. It would be boring ad unfair to see women lose most of the time to be honest.

I stand by my stance that equality doesn't look the same for everybody. Equality for women in sports is having their own league. That being said I'm always for a little boys against girls competition in good spirit.
