Sure, you should be allowed to do whatever the fuck you want. Doesn’t mean you are going to be any good at it. But that’s no reason not to do it. In this situation yeah, I’m not surprised the whole point in tryouts is to find the best potential players. So they are only going to pick the people with the best chance of being good.

Yes in some circumstances. If it's a try out team, the coach has the right (sometimes the obligation) to choose the people they think will best achieve team goals. Height maybe one of them. But I agree with you that there should be some way for you to play.

Yes, you should be allowed to play... but your lack of height may be a disadvantage, just like in a lot of sports (e. g., basketball, swimming, karate)

Hell yes. You just won't be a blocker at the net. The only time when height is an advantage is jumping up to block shots over the net. That's typically where a team's tallest players and/or the best jumpers are. Any other position behind the blockers can do anything just as well, despite their height. As far as them keeping you off the team because of your height, that's BS. You should be allowed to play, develop and flourish in something you want to do.
