Skateboarding for me. I've been a lifelong skater since I was a boy, like so:
Unfortunately I've always been quite camera shy so I only have that one photo of me from my early teens since it was posted in a magazine and my sister scanned it and sent it to me. It's on a mini-ramp and most of my best tricks are on vert ramps where I can do much bigger airs without having to ollie into them.
I started in the 80s and my ultimate inspiration was Christian Hosoi who was one of the ultimate rivals for Tony Hawk. Hosoi focused on beauty and power which is what I always did as well; I never saw the point of doing a trick if we don't make it beautiful, and I've always been inspired by the artistic side of sport and don't see it much different from drawing or painting. Tony Hawk was a contrast who focused entirely on the technical side of skating without focusing on beauty and power.

Unfortunately Hosoi became a meth addict and imprisoned for years while Tony Hawk dominated vert skating, concentrating the focus of vert skating more to technicality than power and grace. Yet I think Lincoln Ueda from Brazil is like a spiritual successor to Hosoi these days:

Ueda doesn't do the most difficult tricks, especially by today's standards, but he does them with so much power and beauty similar to Hosoi.
