Does boxing still matter in the Olympics?

These are the qualifiers for the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics in case those who didn’t know who follow boxing

Another question is why aren’t USA boxers being televised enough to be noticed who goes through trials to try to qualify for the Olympics?

I ask this because everyone knows the 2024 Paris Olympics are coming up, and there are some boxers who qualified for the Olympics, but not many are noticed or known to be publicized or televised to get attention drawn to them. The ones I've seen garner the most attention to qualify for the Olympics lately are gymnastics with Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas, Jordan Biles, and Shilese Jones, so it makes me wonder and ask why those who are upcoming boxers aren't showing Olympic trials to be broadcast for those to watch for everyone to be familiar with for who would be qualified to go to Paris for the Olympics, but people probably aren’t interested in watching.

Also, there still hasn’t been a guarantee or word about the sport of boxing being a part of the 2028 LA Olympics. I question: Does it still matter at this point for boxing to be part of the Olympics this year, but come 2028, there’s probably no chance?

Yes boxing still matters. It just matters less in the US than ever before. Kids in the us are getting soft and fat. It's the same for wrestling.

The quality of American boxers has dropped dramatically and a lot of east Europeans are starting to dominate professionally. I suspect this will happen to the NBA too and in certain key positions in NFL teams being taken by foreign athletes who for instance play rugby such as kickers and punt returner.

The USA hasn't had a male gold Medalist in a long time because they don't stay amateur long enough they all want the money and fame of being pro

No. Olympic boxing totally disgraced itself during the 2016 Olympics when Vladimir Nikitin (Russia) was awarded a win over Michael Conlan (Ireland) in the quarterfinals of the bantamweight division. This is what Conlan (guy who lost) looked like after the fight:

Not surprisingly, Nikitin went on to forfeit the semi-finals as he was unable to attend seeing as how he was still hospitalized after the absolute BEATING he received during his "win."

With me, I don’t care much for boxing since I didn’t grow up during the height of it from movies like ‘Rocky’ to boxing video games to big boxing events advertised everywhere….

Honestly I don’t care much for sports at all. I enjoyed at school being physical and active with friends/fellow classmates though watching sports I find no enjoyment.

That is personal preference and maybe it is from younger generations watching YouTube categories for entertainment / streaming services that we no longer go directly to sports as an outlet for entertainment or boredom. We have so many avenues now due to internet.

It isn’t about ‘softening’ of the younger generation or whatever, it is about changing times. Remember how people used to put a penny or nickel or quarter inside of a wooden box to be shown a ‘flip book’ of a boxing match in black & white with a little light projection back in 1920s? No? Yeah because times changed and how we consume media has changed.

Boxing at the Olympics is still mad important I think. Like it's been going all the way back to the very first modern Olympics way back in the 1800s, so it's got such a long history there. And it's always such an intense event to watch cuz those boxers are just going at it, man. You can really see how much it means to them trying to win a gold medal. It's crazy to me we don't get to see more of the American boxers trying to qualify though. Like the Olympics are a huge deal and would probably be the biggest win of their careers, ya know? But it's like nobody even knows who's competing for our team or trying to make it cuz nothing about the trials ever gets shown. Like you'd think with how massive the Olympics are that they'd want to promote our athletes and let more people get to know them, but I guess boxing just isn't as popular as some other sports on TV these days. Still, putting in all that work for four years only for nobody to even see your fights just getting on the team sucks. They definitely deserve more coverage leading up to it I think. The Olympics are so epic, people should get hyped about all the sports, not just a few.

You won’t find it on the regular networks on your television set. You’re gonna have to go to places like the USA Network to see boxing matches. They won’t show it during prime time it’s not as popular as it used to be. They used to talk about everybody before we all know who they wore now I don’t even know who’s out there. All they talk about is swimming now and track and field. Ladies gymnastics That’s the big sports plus the basketball.
