Is it time to correct Olympic history?

In Munich, the 1972 Olympics, the United States basketball team won gold, but to this day it has never been made official.

The final three seconds of the game were replayed three times under questionable rule interpretations, leading to an ultimate victory by the Soviet team. The result of the game is disputed to this day, with widespread allegations of political corruption.

None of the players ever accepted silver medals starting, "If we had won silver, we would have proudly accepted them. But we didn't; we won the gold."

To this day it's known as one of the greatest fiascos in all of sports history.

It's been 52 years. Isn't it time for the IOC to set the record straight?
