It clearly was, and mimicking the painting was only part of it.
It's easy to do in a country that is pretty openly anti-Christian by western standards and getting overrun by foreigners, though for obvious reasons, the Muslims are pretty pissed about it too.
They got what they wanted though; everyone is talking about one sequence of the ceremony and completely glossing over the rest, which was pretty good.
Yes. And there were other biblical symbols in the opening also that all point towards this.
Like what?

It wasn't the BEST opening night, but it wasn't the worst I've ever seen. Gaga and Dion made the whole thing. Also, I liked the final passing of the torch to the French olympic champion who was 100... the oldest champion of France. That was lovely. Very touching.

Yes! I've been mocking the MAGA and Christian people in my life!! Truly the poorly educated!! However, they all agreed that a bacchanalia would be 🔥🔥🔥
Of course not.
@julie4 explains it.
Did this scene at the opening of the Olympic Games shock people, because they didn't understand what it represented?
No big deal 😂
Yes, of course. The simple minded heathen know Christianity is the religion they can mock without no bombs going off. They'll gobble those words one day soon.
Why? When?
It wasn't so bad as to be a "mockery" but it will go down in history as being one of the most unusual.

was suppose to be the Dionysus painting
yes, but possibly unintentionally
