Did this scene at the opening of the Olympic Games shock people, because they didn't understand what it represented?

Sacrilegious! DISGUSTING. Had nothing to do with the Olympics. Some stupid weird gay pride celebration. I'm tired of the gays TBH. I don't care who is gay but these mentally ill MEN are sick. I'm so tired of the Trans community pulling everything. Where are ones values any more? Sick sick world!!
LOL.
Not to take sides but a drag queen is still in that same league - a man dressed as a woman!
"Trans" does not JUST refer to the mentally ill sex change wannabe crowd. "Trans" can also refer to transvestite, and when I was young, that is what it always meant.
Take off your pants I'll show your precision or lack of thereof you know to make yourself useful
To be fair, organisers should have thought of that. Even if it is not, in fact, the depiction of the last supper it sure looks like one.
Organisers' job was to make sure that something like that doesn't happen.
It is like letting two huge boob shaped baloons to fly above Paris and then saying that these are not boobs, just of similar colour and shape.
That's why these people are getting paid in first place.
They quickly changed their story yes but the problem wad the blue guy's testicles on display for no reason. There are plenty of talented lgbtq people in showbiz so why did theh pick them?
The Paris Olympics is a joke already. Men fighting in the women's boxing and protecting a rapist.
You're so pathological...

I don't care what it represents! I don't wanna see that shit! This is the Olympics, not some fucking gay pride parade! I am very sad that what is probably the greatest culture of earth would degrade themselves like this. Then people are shocked that the far right is gaining traction in France.
It's disgusting! I have to scroll down because that picture honestly makes me want to vomit
How about dressing up in Mardis Gras outfits, or knight outfits? Stuff that represents TRUE French culture. Opening ceremonies are supposed to represent the country's culture. Good men didn't storm Omaha beach so some sicko could pass off this debauchery as French culture.
Then go to the news and tell them that. Like another commenter said, everyone knows the Last Supper. No one knows this painting. So that's on them, but regardless, I don't wanna see drag queens. There were children watching this for God sake
That's interesting because I saw a statement this morning from the Olympic committee and they mentioned nothing about what you just mentioned, neither did the French bishops. As fat as they're concerned it is indeed mocking the Last Super, but they acknowledged it's strange because Da Vinci was Italian
It won't let me post the link
You're okay with this stuff?
I'm a grown man and the imagines traumatized even me
Okay, thank you for clearing that up. I'm curious if the right-wing media will report that.
I only saw a few images of it.
It wasn't uplifting, inspiring, or beautiful. It seemed like the entire purpose was to promote and celebrate the most lascivious and degenerate aspects of LGBTQ and give a big "fuck you" to conventional beliefs and traditions.
The age of enlightenment has gone off the rails.
Thank you. This ^^^
So they pase a painting into a gay parade like performance? Not even the painting looks that inappropriate. What’s odd it’s almost always the leftists trying to justify inappropriate things like this. Just stop. One thing is to want to be accepted and another is to shove it down our throats every opportunity you get. There’s children present and children watching.
Thank you for telling us what the scene really represents. Many people assumed that it depicted "The Last Supper". Since the Catholic Church hates the LGBTQ+ community, Christians and Catholics felt offended and disrespected. I guess that's why it shocked them, not because they didn't understand the meaning of it.
Thanks I was wondering what it should depict. For me the scene was weird because the TV commentators in my country didn´t seem to have an additional information they just described what everybody else saw. That way the whole scene seemed completely out of context. Now it makes a lot more sense why the whole thing looks like such a freak show.
Well that is for the arcane knowledge. Today it is widely associated with Christian paintings to indicate Jesus or saints… but you know that. The drag queens deliberately smeared the Opening Ceremonies because, well… they are a-holes… and now the world knows that… which is the message that will be remembered. I know I lost all respect for them and I hadn’t a strong opinion of them in the past. They’re just a-holes.
No, they knew what they were mocking. The picture they reference had people wearing helmets and a trident… there were none in their little farce.
The Olympics are meant to be where everyone comes together. But Drag Queens have to shit on everything. Next Olympics we should have recreated scenes that show Drag Queens thrown off of rooftops like in Iraq and see if the Drag Queens are offended while we laugh.
The problem is that you think you know better what the creators wanted to represent than the creators themselves.
In fact, it's not the representation of the Last Supper that bothers you, it's the drag queens. Even if the show had represented an event that wasn't even religious, but with drag queens, there would be exactly the same criticism.
So base your criticism on the drag queens and not on the representation of the Last Supper, which they don't even represent.
I firmly believe that the creators lied. They lied when they explained it to the planning committee of what it would look like and they lied to the critics. But far too many people know as it is obvious. Even people in the gay community are against what they also saw. This is no shock that people see the Last Supper. Drag Queens I feel now are hateful and unrelenting.
They abused the trust given to them when no one was looking and now all the world sees what they are truly like. They have made these Games memorable by the hate they sowed.
The one with the halo, Barbara, she posted that it was “the new gay testament”. She then deleted that and later put out the cover story that it is a bout another picture.
It was using the world’s largest stage that is meant to promote global unity and it was used to spread hate and division by people who just can’t help themselves.
In the Last Supper painting, Jesus wears no halo. Whereas Barbara does, so there's a difference between the Last Supper painting and the show that was depicted. Furthermore, in the Last Supper painting there is no Dionysus, whereas in the show he is represented, another difference, the number of people in the Last Supper meal is crucial, count the number of people in the show and you'll see that it doesn't match.
And again, even if it represents the Last Supper, it doesn't matter, because Jesus forgave those who crucified him, and he'll forgive those who performed the ceremony.
Are the Olympics for everyone to enjoy? Or do people have to have a Bachelors in Folklore and Mythology to understand who the fuck it is they were really trying to make fun of? Can't we just watch a sporting event and marvel at athletic prowess without somebody's ideology shoved up our asses? We're sick if it. It was in poor taste and a big mistake because many are going tune out for the whole event now.
You can be 100% right. But to an uninformed public, it was misunderstood. I think the main problem is with the attempt to normalize drag queen behavior. The public is not ready and people don't like having things like that forced down their throtes. I don't want my children to be exposed to anything drag until they can understand it.
I'd hoped you were going to chime in; I hadn't seen the opening (since sports don't really interest me), but as a general rule, when anything gets THAT level of attention, someone is misunderstanding something.
Thanks for clarifying!
So instead of insulting Christians you insulted pagans instead
I’m a Christian and my first instinct was that it was “The Last Supper,” but you’ve got to admit that “The Feast of the Gods” is not as well known or as recognized as “The Last Supper”. I’m more offended that everything just had to be about gender, drag, sexuality and it didn’t feel like a true representation of France (was expecting something similar to the London Olympics). Plus there’s the guy on the left in black, who I swear has his duck egg hanging out.
you thought it looked like the last supper because that’s exactly what they were trying to make it look like. OP is gaslighting you. Look up the “feast of the gods” painting. It looks nothing like this display.
I knew what it was and also the Goddess Sequana, riding the horse.
it’s fairly common here with Celtic goddess type stuff, people were spouting all sorts of nonsense about pale horseman etc.
oh and the father of Sequana?
Yeah... I'm not really mad about this but it's not cool. Like, you can't go on making fun of someone's religion cause you're a drag queen... it's fucked up, cause if someone were to do the same you'd probably be called homophobic
Just fine for gays and transexuals to mock Christianity... But just try mocking gays and transexuals and watch the media and public outrage.
This is a sick and depraved culture that is destroying civil society.
This was a disgrace and they knew it was going to be controversial.
There are quite a few statues with a similar pose I think. It shouldn't have confused as Christ is not depicted like this.
Now they have a post from the one wearing a halo right after the event that it’s the new gay testament. That post was later deleted and she also put out the story about it being about the Greek god feast but as they said she was caught. It’s sad really, the whole thing is. Have a good one.
MAGA gonna MAGA.
Theyre ALWAYS outraged, aggrieved, the victim and the martyr. Always oppressed, "somebody else has it better" and its NEVER their life choices. Sad!
Broadening one's mine is a painful concept. Goodness forbid they should learn something about another country.
*mind
@dustybiker2 agreed. When you're busy shouting "USA USA USA" you drown out what could be an ACTUAL learning experience, a reflective moment or god forbid, humility
Humility? Dirty word. Wash off those fingertips! Too many think it's a weakness because they lack the strength to try it.
I don't like it, and from where did they brought these drag queens? From the walk of pride? 😏
It depicts the last supper, it shows a very similar photo!
I think the intent was very poorly telegraphed. Who the hell knew what they were doing? The Last Supper if far more famous.
the people who complained were not complaining about the Smurf man, but the scene at the long table
The main performer literally called the performance “The New Gay Testament” on social media, so the intention was clear.
If you really think that, I got a bridge to sell you
Rather see a guy shooting a firey arrow to light up the olympic cup torch
That is disgusting. One of the guys balls are hanging out on the picture. Not sure why you post that picture here even.
Disgusting. The French already were despised by the world, and they just made it worse by making a joke of the Olympics.
Typically the explain what's happening, they didn't do it for this one.
Why did they put a kid there? That's so creepy.
the world revolves around us...
Ya people needed to know background
why he hiding those area? lol
*cough* bs *cough*
