Overall it was good. It's unfortunate that it had its bad points that are getting all the attention.
The drag queen stuff should have had no part of the ceremony. The last super bit was not the only one. I got the feeling they were trying to make things appear chic. Fortunately, for all the time it's getting online, it was mere seconds in an otherwise impressive ceremony.
It was interesting that they did everything outside and the parade of nations on the Seine. It meant they gave up charging for tickets.

1 yit was ok. not the best, not the worst. i think all the people who are getting mad, frothing at their mouth only saw that 5 minute queer thing out of the entire 4 hour show. which i do think was some atrocious woke nonsense but it was just a tiny part of the entire thing.

I watched it, honestly there was a bit of everything, images like the one showing Queen Marie Antoinette with her head cut off quite ridiculous, or the Drag-Queen (I'm not against Drag-Queen but I don't really see what they were doing at this ceremony).
As for the rest, there were also some incredible images and moments10 Reply

A national disgrace for France.

When you look at previous opening ceremonies it was a joke. Surely they could have found talented trans and lgbtq folks somewhere to do something entertaining if that was the route they wanted to go.

i agree that part was tasteless but this was like 5 minutes of a 4 hour show...

yea. but again. 5 minutes of a 4 hour long show xD besides it wasn't the blue guy who had his testicle out. you didn't even see it. just the reports about it.

1 yI only saw bits and pieces of it after the fact. It was weird, something the French are known for. The Olympic cauldron being suspended under a hot air balloon was an interesting change on the usual cauldron, celebrating that the first hot air balloon was in Paris in 1783. When I saw that though, I didn't think of the first hot air balloon, I thought of the first aviation deaths, as two Frenchmen perished when their balloon crashed.

Anonymous(25-29)1 yFrance was already a weak degenerate country the moment they installed unrestricted abortion in their constitution and completely outlawed paternity tests
after all, they were steamrolled twice by Germany in both world wars and begged the UK to save their sorry asses and now refugees from Middle-East and North Africa are gleefully taking full advantage of their stupidity

1 yHonestly, I fell asleep during it. It was very slow, and uh.. quite boring lolz. (No offense) But the lights of Eiffel tower made up for it, and the part where they lit up torch while riding their boats.

Anonymous(45 Plus)1 yIt was a shit show. Unnecessary, a joke. A mockery of a lot of things. I don’t get that community of alphabets. They say they want to be accepted by people, to just live their life, left alone. But then do shit like this or the types of parades they throw w naked so-called men walking around. Then to make a mockery of a religion like that. His is all part of a plan to decrease the population in the states. Then you end up w what China has.

1 yI missed it but I've seen a few clips on the news. Shame about the rain. I'm sure a lot like the drag queen's and last supper parody was only done to trigger the far right for a laugh
20 Reply 429 opinions shared on Trending & News topic. It was a good idea to change it up from the stadium setting. I’m not sure the gay Smurf stuff was necessary but I’m not as upset about it as everyone else. A bit of inclusivity is ok.
I liked the bit at the beginning with Zidane. Celine Dion did well, Lady Gaga was a strange inclusion, not a fan. Pity about the rain. It was pretty much what one would expect from the French.

People here get upset when they can't take criticism.
After reevaluating my earlier comment, I'll state it again with stronger conviction:
"I was unimpressed.
T'was boring, puzzling & dragging."
1 yShould have been nothing but Eva Green in a sexy evening gown walking up a flight of stairs to light the torch
30 Reply🤔 I didn't get the whole drag queen stuff. What was that about?

1 yHmm I didn't like how it was held outdoors and on a river - sounds like something Brisbane or Melbourne or Perth would do lol - so cheap and and nasty versus a classic stadium opening 🏟️ 🎆🎇
20 ReplyHave not watched yet , but after reading though this thread I will , I can see what they were trying to achieve and I dont mind that , but I'm not so sure it will appeal to me , we will see I guess.
00 ReplyMy dad watched it he said it was super slow and didn't hold his attention. I only saw the olympic fire bit when I happened to walk by, doing it in an air balloon was a neat idea. Way to many torch passes though.
00 Replyi've just seen pics of it and wtf. the drag queen stuff, the lady with a beard, morbidely obese female jesus and blue naked dionysos man... umm
10 ReplyI didn't watch it. I am on the last season of Attack on Titan. That is all I have been watching lately. 😅
