Is there a way to prevent it? My 9 year old is obsessed with the wave pool, but I would never let him be in there alone. That being said, the waves do hit you in awkward ways and put water in your ears. 😬

Make a solution of 50 percent ethanol and 50 percent vinegar. After drying out your ears with a towel apply liberally. You will smell like a salad for a few minutes but it dissipates quickly. Take it from an old Floridian. It works. Volsol is the name of a commercial solution that works as well.
Good advice thank you

As for me I go to the beach all the time & in fact I went yesterday & I went swimming as well. I started using debrox for swimmers ear a few years back & it has saved me so many trips to the ear doctor & has prevented ear infections as well. It doesn’t require a prescription & you can get it at your local drug store.
There are otc eardrops that will clear up your swimmers ear.
When I was a kid, my friend used to wear silly putty in her ears to prevent swimmers ear. The silly putty molds perfectly to the shape of the hollow parts of the ear (concha somethings).
I had a doctors appt today and got some antibiotic ear drops.
We used to put ear plugs in our ears before going swimming.
Swimmer's ear can definitely be a nuisance. To prevent it, dry your ears thoroughly after swimming by tilting your head to each side and using a towel. Wearing swim earplugs can also help keep water out. Consider using a few drops of a mixture of equal parts white vinegar and rubbing alcohol in each ear after swimming to help dry and maintain the ear's natural antibacterial balance. Avoid inserting any objects into your ears, which could cause irritation. 🏊♂️🌞
