Usually someone who has trained in a martial art and is physically strong and fit. I trained judo for years. My husband has done a lot of boxing, wrestling, judo and kickboxing. I've seen him fight in the streets a few times, the thing he tells me about is that martial arts are great and so are combat sports but in the boxing ring, wrestling circle, dojo, octagon or whatever there are rules. There was a muay Thai guy once that started on him outside a club and he was all elbows, knees and leg kicks and looked like he was winning until headbutted him 3 times tossed him to the ground, no headbutts in muay Thai.

That's crap. Brock lesnar was a well trained wrestler and well trained styker. His career in the octagon was mixed and lost, mir and valezquez wrecked him

Lesnar attended Webster High School, playing football and competing in wrestling, placing third in the state championships his senior year. He then went to Bismarck State College where in 1997, his freshman year, he placed 5th in the 275 lb. division of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). In 1998, his sophomore year, he won the 275 lb championship. After two years at Bismarck State College, Lesnar transferred to the University of Minnesota on a wrestling scholarship, where he was roommates with future WWE colleague Shelton Benjamin, who was also his assistant coach.
Lesnar won the 2000 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I heavyweight wrestling championship his senior year after being the runner-up to Stephen Neal the year prior. He finished his amateur career as a two-time NJCAA All-American, the 1998 NJCAA Heavyweight Champion, two-time NCAA All-American, two-time Big Ten Conference Champion and the 2000 NCAA Heavyweight Champion, with a record of 106–5 overall in four years of college.

He didn't have a clue about anything else and Frank Mir struggled with him. Mir claimed it was like being in a car crash and being underwater and having people beat the crap out of you and not knowing whats going on. Lesnar didn't have a clue in that fight.

Lesnar did not have a clue about anything and panicked when he saw a submission. All he knew was wrestling. He changed in his next fight.

He panicked because if he didn't tap he'd never walk right again. We saw how cain valezkez and Daniel corner manhandled him

He wasn't inexperienced at striking against valezquez it was just that valezquez was better, he'd been in mma for 6 years at that stage even beating randy cultore.
He fought overeem not cormier and got wrecked.

Diet, courage, spontaneity, alertness, precision, strength, agility.. Mix of it all. Being big simply doesn't do everything. Khabib isn't big, but he was fighting bears when he was a kid. He never lost a single fight throughout his career in UFC. Tells enough.
