I've been pitched at in the low 90s by a former student - that speed gives new meaning to "chin music". It was just a BLUR at release and then an ominous WHIZZ sound and then SMACK in the catchers glove! ITS SO FAST!! Hundreths of a second MATTER!!

If you've ever been hit by a pitch you know the angry purple welt it can leave. It was TERRIFYING to be in that batters box!!

So, how'd you do? Ladies in USA it makes a great Father's Day gift! He'll feel like a kid again!

I did the batting cage in an amusement park trying to hit a softball at fast speed and didn’t think it would be so hard to hit but eventually I got it but took quite a few tries, I’ve also been to carnivals where you bet on how fast you can throw the next ball but the best I did was 60 mph

Yeah, I don’t know how anybody ever gets up to 90s or even 100 but I noticed guys that are taller seem to be able to throw it faster

I have never been. I knew somebody who was trying to get his son into the pros and actually bought a pitching machine. I always meant to go over there and try it out but Inever got around to it.

I've experienced the thrill of batting cages a few times. While baseball isn't my primary sport, the challenge of hitting a fast pitch is exhilarating. My agility from tennis gave me a slight edge with timing and hand-eye coordination. The fast pitches were intense, especially for a non-pitcher like me. I used to play a lot of ball in my youth. When i was 18 I was able to make fairly consistent good contact with 75 mph plus fast balls. But recently I went to a cage and cranked up the speed and was whiff at most of them. It was sad. I had to notch it back a bit. Now I will admit I always found human pitchers generally easier since the wind up and release gives you a bit more time to get ready as apposed to a ball just squirting out of a machine. I think you can time the swing better with a human... but thats just me.

💯 agree. The mechanics of delivery are GREAT clues as opposed to a machine. Sorry the years creeped up! It happens to all of us!! That's awesome for consistent contact in the 70s tho. Good hand eye
