Why do people care about college football?

I dated somebody from a Big Ten school. They had a huge parking lot where people could park their motor homes and party for the whole weekend. Some had motorhomes painted in the school colors or were decorated with logos and footballs. My girlfriend told me that most of the people never went to school there and they just liked football.

I watch sports sometimes but I have to be invested in the team to some degree. Have some familiarity with the players and maybe have a couple of favorites. College football really does not have much familiarity and the players come and go just about every year.

Guys are usually interested in the specific sports they played as kids. Women that were part of school activities usually get involved in whatever the guys are into. If you were a cheerleader in school, you're probably a cheerleader in front of the TV when you get older. If you went to some big party school rather than a school specifically for education, then you are also probably tied into the school spirit and tailgating because that's why you went to college in the first place, for the social experience not the academics.

I love college football 🏈 My Miami Hurricanes are playng in the playoffs this Saturday at 12 PM against Texas A&M you can watch the game on ABC in the first round of the playoffs. They’re playing in Texas If they win that one they play Ohio State, in the Cotton Bowl next. You know, we got robbed back in 2002 in the national championship game against Ohio State

I think college football is more interesting to watch than professional football.

I've been to a college football game in Knoxville, Tennessee and it was exciting,! I didn't know any of the players either. But they kept it alive and it wasn't boring at all.

I also went to a professional football game in Los Angeles (maybe the Rams?) and it was boring. They'd gain a couple of feet every now and then and then have to line up AGAIN. It was the extent of a boring game.

To be fair though... French people will climb mountains with baskets of cheese and wine to watch bicycle racers whiz by in about 1 minute. they make a day or weekend of it. it's an excuse.

America's pastime has always been baseball. At least you get to watch a bunch of guys do something for about 3 hours and it is summer so you can catch some rays at the same time.

Yes, college football has certainly changed in the past several years, due to NIL and the transfer portal. For people who attended the school, being a football fan is almost automatic, unless you simply don't like football. I received my bachelor's degree and law degree from FSU, and I like football. Therefore, I am a fan of our team. . . despite their lackluster performance the past two years.

I think sports must have something to do with fighting wars. The competition between two teams , it mirrors war in a way. I think people have some kind of gene that makes them want to test their tribe against other tribes. I think it's about testing themselves for war that's why they're so obsessed.

I had an aunt and uncle who lived in Madison, Wisconsin, and were Badgers fanatics. She was an administrator for the college. They had matching Badgers sweaters and outfits would travel the country to see the games.

I used to watch college football sometimes, but wasn't a fanatic. I didn't even have a favorite team. There are some pretty strong rivalries, though. It's good football.

The are many small towns that may have a college football team nearby but not an NFL team nearby. They can drive to those games and be sports fans. Personally I don't give a flying fuck about most sports, especially a kid's game played with a ball.

I don't know why people like football at all. It's an extremely dangerous game that is likely to result in brain injuries in a substantial number of the people that play it. It's meaningless. I don't care what the results of a football game are one way or the other and I think watching it is sort of boring.
