Why do people make such a big deal over sports?

I don't mean the athletes because they're going to live for that. However, I'm talking about the fans and spectators. Especially the ones who cause stampedes at soccer matches and football games and the rioters who loot in the streets after a big win in a game.

do you refer to that tragedy abroad that had lots of casualties? because that was not about the sport...

that was just the detriment of society hijacking sports as an excuse to destroy itself...

yes, those are always about something else... and not the sport

could be gangs, militias, extreme-groups going versus rival extreme-groups, organized crime and much more

these are never done in the spirit of the sport and the competition... these are brewed in the hatred of people for other people, then they use the venues of sports as a "vehicle"

Hard to know but I get what you mean. I think it's a substitute for war. Personally, I won't watch sports as I consider it a waste of my time.
