It turns out it is part of a more complex conspiracy where the predominantly black lesbian players were incited by the WNBA corporate leadership. It combines "genderism", racism, jealousy, envy, Clarks endorsements, publicity and contract issues; none of which caused any malfeasance by Clark.

Byrd says he was embroiled in that but was willing to literally fight back and he prevailed and drew respect form corporate and players of other races.
