I take stuff to a local tip fairly regularly, and I've noticed that most of the TVs, at the tip, are now flat screen models.
Do you still have one of the older 'box' types, or does anybody you know still have one?
I used to have one of this non-flat TVs when I was young.
Very versatile. You could use it as an additional bookcase, mantelpiece, put fake roses on it, bottles of wine, an army of toy soldiers, your graduation photos, that trophy you won for coming in 3rd in your school's singing competition because only you and 2 other people had joined... all on top of a nice white paper doily with a floral design of course.
You can't do that with today's flat screen TVs.
not for ages... it wasn't just fashion that killed them here but also the fact that most dont have a scart input and all transmissions in the uk are now digital so you need a digibox of some sort to plug in
actually its not just the third world thinking about it... i go to a Friday market in the little town near my place in bulgaria when im over there and i have seen stalls selling old tvs and phones. i should buy them really and bring them home when you see the price of vintage electronics on ebay
I recently threw one with a vcr attached away. My sons had it in their room to watch vhs movies. They some how broke it. I tossed it along with a huge bag full of movies.
I have a box TV in my basement. It has a VCR player so I keep it so I can watch the movies I have on tape that I haven’t yet replaced with Blu-ray’s
Thanks for MHO 🥳

I still use my old black & white set for the 70s in my bedroom. Plus I like my TV's covered in wood cabnet. A console TV
Oh, one more thing. I like my TVs plain without internet and dumb. If I want smart I will just look in the mirror.
I have one, I didn't move it out of my parents' house but still watch it occasionally when I am there!
Last year when I threw one out with the trash. Plan on purchasing another to replace. I love flat screens, but their is one thing they just can't do.
