As a former DirecTV/DishNetwork installer, I *hated* those pieces of crap. They were huge, heavy, and often people integrated them in such a way that getting behind them was nearly impossible.
Plus, they were big rear-projection setups but with a standard-definition picture that looked AWFUL when blown up that large. Maybe the worst thing was that the gears that were used to align the three color lenses were made of nylon, which is brittle and easily broken - especially with age - and were holding up heavy lenses. If one of those TVs was more than a few years old, and it got moved from one room to another or one house to another, it was almost guaranteed that the gears would be broken, and then the colors couldn't be aligned, and you'd have major, unrepairable convergence problems, which looked like this:

People always wanted US to fix it for them, and I was constantly having to explain that we weren't TV repairmen, but here to install satellite TV service, and that their TVs were THEIR responsibility. Many didn't like that answer, but it was still the answer.
I'm so happy that it's been years since I've seen one of these in person, and that they're an artifact of the past. They were terrible.

As for me I remember those big bulky screen tv’s & I remember my computer which was an IBM APTIVA & I remember driving through snow where I lived at the time with a Nissan Pathfinder.

They were heavy until my 1 1/2 years old son took a little kiddie chair to the screen it had a great picture and sound was great
I remember having a tv like those in the living room when I was a kid
Me too I had one
I remember those big screen TVs vividly! 📺 They were such a staple in households during the 90s and 2000s. The massive rear-projection TVs were almost like furniture pieces in the living room. I often watched art and film classics on one of those, and they brought a cinematic experience into the home. It's fascinating how technology has evolved since then!
lily... you are scary. I watched the Hal9000 unit in that one show and you remind me of that. should I be concerned about your future power?

I had one of those I bought in 2000 I think, pretty sure it was from Circuit City, it wasn’t that good of a picture after all and too big, at the time the Plasma screen TVs were $10,000 so that was the only good thing I could afford
In the mid-90s, I actually won one of those. The Catholic elementary school I had attended as a kid was having a raffle and I bought some tickets to be nice. I was surprised when they called to say I had won. The TV was great - cutting edge for the day. It had picture in picture and all kinds of features. I had it connected to my surround sound stereo.
Mine was a lot like the one in the third picture down. I had it for years.
yeah... I really messed up my back moving one of (smaller though) these by myself, lmao
😂😂😂😂
I also laughed while tearing up... lmao
Yep. We had one, for a long time. It eventually died
Mines too many years back
Still got one! In the next room! If there was no wall here, I could reach over and touch it with very little trouble.
A buddy of mine had one of those. Lousy picture quality, especially in bright rooms.
Just bought a 65" Samsung. The screen is only 4mm thick.
I remember them, but we never had one. Horrid picture, horrid cost, vanished in a pinch (stuck in between changing technologies).
I remember them but I never had one I had a Sony 35 inch Trinitron.
This is an Advent Nova Beam. It was a projector that showed the image on a ten foot screen. These were seen mostly in bars and restaurants. I set one of these up for the campus bar where my best friend went to school. The picture was not great but the size of it was amazing for the time.

I could not afford one of the large rear-projection TVs, but I had a friend who had one. A bunch of us guys would often watch sports on it. Though big, it was kinda fuzzy, and colors seemed to fade near the edges.
Back in the early 2000s I paid $3,000 for a 55” HDTV (1080p) projection TV. Now I can buy a 65” 4k LED TV for $500. Capitalism for the win.
Always dreamed to have one but my father always said that it's too big 😄
It was the kind of T. V that only rich people can have haha
Back when TVs had ass, lmao
😂😂😂😂
We never had one but I certainly remember them
I always thought that in this size an aquarium is MORE entertaining.
And I find fish to be boring :)
I remember the 90s, good old times. 80s too.
My family never had a big-screen.
I remember them, but i never had one.
