Are smart watches like the Apple watch useful or overrated?

I find them some what impractical because you have to charge them and the functionality is not really useful in my opinion. I still have an old apple watch somewhere but I haven't worn it for a long time and I also don't have an I phone anymore. I rather wear a real watch or a fitness tracker if I do sports because it is smaller and lighter. I just couldn't find any situation when the watch was useful except the notification function when you don't have you phone in your pocket and you have it turned silent. However that situation rarely happend and if it does my fitness tracker does the exact same thing. All the other functions are not really useful in my opinion because my phone does the exact same things and it is mostly faster to use your phone.
I found the apple watch way to expensive and I couldn't find any use case for it but that is just my opinion.

They're overrated. Even the Samsung offerings.

I can understand the Fitbit and Garmin offerings. But the smartwatch is largely a pointless cost

I dont see the need for them. My girlfriend has one but i dont even wear a regular watch

No not really. We are usually close to a computer or phone which can tell us the time so it doesn't add much

I've never understood the point of a watch that can't do 1/1000 of what the phone in your pocket can do.
