How long should a hdmi be for a blu ray player?

I just got a blu ray player a none of the hmdi cables I have worked so I was wondering how long it has to be for it to get a signal.

The longest an HDMI cable can be is 25 feet. After that you need some kind of a repeater or booster. If the cable is shorter then there is something else going on. Maybe you have to select an particular input?
