HELP!!! Is my MINI FRIDGE BROKEN? IM SCARED IS IT BROKEN?

I bought a new mini fridge today. I waited 5 hours or longer to turn it on. It was barley turned on since 2 hours ago and had a loud humming sound. Then I put my heavy microwave on top of it and after few minutes the humming noise stopped. Now after few minutes again the humming noise is back but weird noise. Is this normal? I’ve been moving the fridge tiny bit as I felt it was too close to the wall. It’s cold inside tho.

If it doesn't sound right, take it back and exchange it for another or maybe a different model, or insist on a refund if they don't have a replacement. You shouldn't have any problem with most dealers. However, hopefully you paid with a check or credit card in the unlikely event you do have a problem. Don't wait more more than 24 hours if you paid by check.

I didn’t buy it at a store. It was like a warehouse place. I found the store on offer up where u sell new or used furniture. It was a little warehouse and he said it was opened from the box as he has check to make sure it worked

When someone says, he opened the box to make sure it worked, you can be 100 percent, that is a used item and he is using that as an excuse. Tell him you purchased it with the understanding that is new. However, since it a used and defective you want a refund. If he doesn't refund your money, don't argue. If paid by check, issue a stop payment. If paid by credit card, ask your credit card company to reverse the charge. If paid by cash, all states have implied warranty laws so file in small claims court. Most likely, that will get you a refund. If not just tell the judge that is defective and you want it repaired, replaced, or a refund. Don't give him the opportunity to claim that he offered to repair or replace but you demanded a refund. It shouldn’t be necessary, but you can remind the judge about your state's implied warranty law. You will not lose your case.

The humming noise is probably the mechanism that cools the refrig. After it gets to the right temp the humming should stop.

Bigger fridges are better built for vibration. As long as a fridge is at the temperature you set the compressor won't run/hum. But if the temp falls to a certain point the cooling mechanism will come back on and create humming again.

I put it at number 4, it feels cold. I just turned it on since 2 hours ago. So it’s fine to sleep then tonight? Lol it Hums then stops hums then stops, it keeps repeating. Stop then hun stop then hum again.

It is just keeping the temp down. A mini fridge is not as insulated as a full size and will need to run more. I think you should be okay. If you feel uneasy unplug it and back in when morning comes and watch it through the day. Put a thermometer in the fridge to verify it is getting cold - at least 38 degrees.

I can’t unplug it my food is inside lol. Omg the humming noise stopped again. It does feel cold but I’m read on the manual 7 is coldest but on first day to put it at 4? For 24 hours?

The humming is just the compressor running. It only runs when the thermostat says it is too warm in the refrigerator. It is normal. As long as it is cold inside it is okay.

I bought it off a guy on this app where u sell buy furntire old or new. He said it was new. It was opened from the box as he needed check if it works. It was like a little warehosue he sold few things.

I had a cheap cooler tiny fridge thing and it would hum 24/7 but the noise would only stop if it was broken or turned off. Only few times it made a loud screeching sound as it was breaking lol

I’ve woken up many times in the middle of the night with that other tiny cooler fridge I had lol with that huge screeching noise. It was super tiny nothing fit
