Have you ever used a pay phone before?

When I was in grad school, I was driving to meet my wife who I was dating at the time. My car got stuck in some mud when I swerved to miss a car that drifted into my lane. I got out and a couple of guys helped me push it out, but in the process I dropped my phone in the mud, and it bricked. The whole thing, including a car wash since the wheels were so off balance due to the mud in them, took about an hour and a half, and I wanted to let her know I was running late, and why I was running late, so I called her from a payphone. She didn't answer the unfamiliar number, so I left a voicemail, hoping she'd check it. I pulled into town, rang her apartment buzzer from the front door, and her roommate called her for me to let her know I was finally there - she hadn't checked her voicemail. Luckily once she learned why I was late and not answering my phone she was just happy I finally made it.
15-20 years ago. I know I've used one since I moved to where I live now in 2000. I remember locking my keys in the car and needing to call someone. The only phone nearby was the convenience store across the street. Five years before that they were all over the place. But they were getting pretty thinned out by the early 2000s.
Overall I've probably used a pay phone hundreds of times in my life. It pretty much sucked, especially when I needed to make a long distance call. They were expensive, you had to stand in some weird place in the middle of nowhere, and there was always noise around.
I haven't seen one of those in years. To be honest I don't remember the last time I even used one. I have had a cell phone for over 20 years now so it has been at least that long ago.
I was 4 or 5 years old when I used one. Inside a Walmart lol

They were what it was, since cellphones though, they've disappeared. I'm pretty sure the last time I used one though was when I was in Japan... I had a cellphone but it is WAAAAAY fucking cheaper to just buy some minutes and call through a landline back to the United States. At least back then, around the 2002 to 2006 range.
I was very young (maybe 4 or 5) and I had myself and my mother locked outside the car with the keys inside and I was obligated from my mom to call my dad to come back from work to help us (he had one of the first cellular phones at work). I remember that phone call I did, I was really desperate because I knew I made a big error 😂
To make phone calls? Many a year. But not too far from where I am now, I passed a padr of payphones with signs saying "Yes, this payphone still works". I was tempted to call my nephew and ask if he knew whan I wal calling from' but i doubted he'd appreciate it.
I’ve used one but probably not in the last 15 years or so, once I got a cell phone I really never had a need to use one except in the beginning of my job instead of using my cell phone I would use a payphone because I didn’t want to use up my minutes. Now it’s unlimited minutes and I think they are getting rid of the last pay font in New York City
I still know where there is some working ones on Long Island still, I was shocked to hear a dial tone
The last time I used one that I can remember was the 1990s. Outside of airports and a few other specialty places, they've long since been removed. I don't think I've seen an operational pay phone in at least 20 years outside of an airport.
It was probably 20 years ago. Only thing I remember was being in a bar and using the pay phone to call a friend. Remember that was before everyone had a cellphone.
September of 2003 on Martha's Vineyard to call a taxi for me and friends because we we fucking plastered after bar hopping all night.
I've had to use them on multiple occasions growing up. Before cell phones came out I had a pager. If someone needed me they would page me and I'd call them from a pay phone. Where I live pay phones don't exist anymore
I can't remember the last time I did, if ever I even did to begin with.
Back in... middle school? Gawd, that phone was shit buuut... so was I. A dumb shit
The last time I went to use a payphone (About 20 years ago), it had been vandalised.
OMG its been years and years I mean lilke the 90s maybe even 80s
Last time I used one was in my early 20's my cell died and didn't have my charger with me.
Not a yes or no question, but it's been probably 20-25 years, I think.
i can't even recall the last time I even saw a pay phone let alone use one.
Probably early 2000s we have a payphone like that at our local mall I even took a picture of it
Im 45 years old.. I haven't seen a pay phone in over 20 years
I don't know that I have ever seen a pay phone.
I haven’t used one since I was a kid tbh
I imagine it was at least 20 years ago.
