Why can't they make a car made of solar panels and put generators on each drive line so it can charge itself while going down the road?

They can- but you'd need WAY more solar panels than you could fit on a car to power it; while beeter than they used ho be, they're still ludicrously inefficient. Recycling, too, is an issue; there's basically none of it for solar panels, and neither their construction ner the requisite mining is environmentally friendly, so it wouldn't really do much even to offset consumption.

Solar panels are a good idea in theory but it can't supply the car with nearly enough electricity with current technology. As for having a generator, the electric motor itself IS a generator when operated in reverse so electric cars tend to do that when rolling down hills or breaking.

It takes forever to charge electric cars, imagine solar panels. Probably be charging up for days, that’s unrealistic.
