Do you find a valid reason for people to take selfies from this angle?

For the past months I had seen so many people posting selfies this way and post them on their respective social media accounts. Then It got me wonder. Why the reason for taking a photo from this angle. To look thinner in case you are overweight as in that position you can't see well from that perspective.

In my personal opinion I found those kind of selfies absurd and dumb!!! Just like the mirror selfies people and the cell phone blocking your darn face!! A selfie where your face is being blocked? So why take it in the first place? or the other type of mirror selfie where your face is not completely blocked but you are looking the mobile screen and the person never looks up. I mean why are you looking at the mobile screen?

I mean how dumber a photo like that has to be?

Yes I do see a reason.
1. to not disclose their location
2. More light.
3. to respectfully exclude others who don't want their picture taken.
4. keep the glair off their screen so they can see the image better.
5. to get their whole body in the image without 99% being background.

For phone foreground face photo
1. Keep their identity hidden
2. stay focused on the subject (perhaps their body or outfit)
3. they are idiots and uploaded the wrong photo :D

But most importantly maybe its time to take a breath. Relax. People do far dumber things if you need to vent. And I am one who doesn't mind listening to a good cathartic vent if it will help. But there are way too many wonderful things to enjoy. Like people sharing their photos.

well like the mirror selfies where u look at ur phone is just basically giving you something to look at so u look hot but not staring into the distance

the one covering ur face u do when u feel self conscience of ur face or u just want to show off ur outfit while still looking cute

the one where u tilt your phone all the way up brings focus to ur face and covers neck fat, or the lighting is just better.

Social media has made people more insecure about their looks than anything in history. Many women are wearing masks still and blocking with the phone etc. Social media is very unhealthy for us, the slightly evolved naked apes.

A quick outdoor selfie maybe but the self timer is a better option. Standing in front of a mirror with your phone always looks awkward.
