Is it possible to hack someone only by knowing their phone number?

somebody told me that he was gonna hack my phone but he only knows my phone number is it really possible i mean without links, can he do it with coding etc?

It’s a line men like to pull to scare you. It’s been used on me too.

The FBI have a hard time hacking peoples phones when they have custody of it.

I would venture to say he couldn’t. The likelihood would be next to none. He’d need more info than just your number. A lot of genuine know how too.

Make sure that all your passwords are safe *and* different.
If possible it's better if your password is long rather than complicated.
So if a site allows long passwords try to make some kind of small story or something representing the password to help you remember it.
The shorter it is the more important additional weird symbols ends up being.
If someone *really* wants to hack you and have unlimited resources it's impossible to stop them, no matter how security conscious you are.
But that usually just applies to state agencies that have a specific reason to target *you* that justifies paying millions...
But just some common sense and being security conscious can usually protect you from most script kiddies and broader attacks targeting everyone.

Hack? No. But he might be able to put a virus or malware on your phone. By having your phone number, he can send you a text message with a link. If you click on the link, it could open your browser and automatically download a virus or malware.
