    It's not just texting app
    It's internet based text, calling, funds transfer, marketing app.
    Texts cost you from your carrier, sometimes they are free to a limited number but not always.
    For people who don't have imessage whatsapp is the alternative

      That's the point of WhatsApp -- end to end encryption. The service provider cannot read the messages. Law enforcement cannot read the messages. No one on earth can read the message unless the recipient shares it with them.
