There are a lot of things that you can do.

Find your target audience

Post consistently and authentically

Stick to an aesthetic

Make friends, interact with other accounts, and collaborate with them, it will widen your audience and give you more exposure.

Find out what peak times are to post and plan it out in advance.

Use relevant tags

Interact with your audience

Make sure that what you are posting is visually appealing, if you don't know about composition, lighting and depth of field, then learn.

There should be a sense of cohesion in your feed and with what you are posting, last thing you want is a bunch of random content cluttering your feed. Its distracting and people aren't going to enjoy it.

Make sure you have accounts on lots of different platforms where you are posting consistently with a link that takes the view back to where you are wanting to direct most traffic.

Make a website, you can make one for free and make sure to get you SEO set up. There are videos on how to do that so learn. I used Wix, it works pretty well for a free option.

If you’re a cat person, it should come easy. Cat people don’t expect to earn a cat’s affection. We just do what we do and if the cat comes, great! If not, what are you gonna do? Ell oh ell! A following on social media will be the same. Do things that are interesting and entertaining to YOU. Your audience will find you. If your content is disingenuous just for the sake of growing your following, your audience will detect that and it’ll be harder for you to maintain meaningful creativity if you’re not doing your own things.

Let's be real here... Women gain followers by looking pretty. A guy who posts stuff on current events, and he's not some radical conservative or hippy dippy liberal and calls out shit for what it is, he will most likely have less. That's the truth, unfortunately, sex sells. I know any female who reads this will be offended or pissed off but you can't deny that ladies. When random girls who have not accomplished much can be naked on OnlyFans and have 100,000 followers on IG, every one of those followers aren't following her based on intelligence.

It takes time. You need to be very consistent with your content let's say if you want to be a youtuber you should post your videos every week on specific days. Interact with your followers and take in consideration their feedback/opinions/suggestions. Post at least once a day or every other day on instagram but be careful with over sharing. Create content that is entertaining and genuine and that people actually want to see.

And please, for the love of god, avoid using the tag lines of "make sure you like, comment, and share!". Everyone says that exact line. So don't even mention it. Viewers will decide to do all that on their own.

Unfortunately the internet is run by an algorithm so jumping around different subjects and types of content will probably spoof the algorithm and it won't promote your stuff.
