Manual or automatic?

Unless im driving my wifes car, i only drive stick. I feel like im actually DRIVING my machine. Curious to know because i hear manuals and those who drive them are a dying breed

BONUS. Does driving one or the other make one more attractive? Comment below

Depends how much you're driving.

If you're driving less than 30 miles a day then manual is fine and will save you fuel costs.

But if you're driving more than 50, then manual is going to kill your health and wallet. truckers don't tend to have good overall health.

I learned to drive a farm truck, at 12 or 13 on the farm and it was a stick shift... so old it didn't even have seat belts in it.

I loved the control you had over power. Automatics to me feel like they are more like shift assist... if you ever floor it, it isn't sure what gear to go into... then finally picks one (2 or so seconds later) and then your rpms jump up to red line... like nooo I wanted more power, at 3500 rpms not red line.

Thus I have to coax it to shift when I want.

Best part about stick shift is towing a trailer and going up and down hills (live out west so mountains and hills everywhere) hold it in gear for more power, hold it in gear to avoid going too fast down hill.

Tow haul mode isn't the same.

I don't own any manuals myself, I did have a old neon that was manual for a time, my first real car.

Thank you 😊 I’m glad that I had my driving lessons in a manual car tbh, the only reason I’m driving an automatic car is bc my mum gave me her car because she no longer drives it aha

I drive both, curiously in the UK if you taken your test in a Manual you can drive an automatic without another test but if you passed in an Automatic you need to rake another test if you want to shift over to a Manual.

Drive a manual for many years, and could do a heel-and-toe downshift. Now I would prefer to drive a paddle-shifting double-clutch.

9/10 I want a manual like I learned on, some days though... I'm just tired or exhausted or irritated or whatever and just wanna go ahead and leave it on the shift tree like a plebe, lol.
