I was wondering how much I should pay for a decent computer?

Depends how much power you need and what you are intending to do with it.

If you want to play games you need a decent gpu and you should invest about 1000 €/$ in a desktop PC, 1500 in a laptop.

For simple office stuff you only need onboard graphics and you should be able to get a sufficient pc for 200/300, laptop 500/600.

Or a big tablet for 200~400 bluetooth keyboard maybe.

Also you need external hardware for the Desktop PC, monitor, mouse and keyboard, speakers or headphones...

You may save some money if you build your own pc and only buy components, and these are based on the prices here in germany, Maybe they are cheaper or more expensive.

And ofcourse the sky is the limit, you can easily pay 5000€ for a gaming PC.

You can get really good used ones for less than $1,000 and new ones for around $2,000 to $3,000.

I just got one for 70 bucks... lol

obviously not going to force it in any way... but it is more than decent for the task it will be used for

so it really depends on what you need that laptop for, the tasks should dictate the value

$500 for a desktop. Laptop around $200 or $300 for a basic one.
