That's like asking for a car which is cheap but reliable.

It's more down to what you can afford and what you want to do, rather than the product alone.

If you're buying new then I always suggest physically going into stores and trying out various models to get a feel for what you're after. I also recommend buying second hand if you're looking for better deals.

A lot of the new stuff isn't really that much better than last years. More often than not, you're just paying for it being "new" than any real performance or usability gain. Apple shit is especially bad for that.

Lenovo is the best I have seen. I don’t know if they are great for travel. But they are Tanks and solid software. You just need some external memory…

There is no specific answer, just a guide. I would find out what the at the absolute best laptop you could buy 2-3 years ago and buy that now second hand. My personal home laptop is an eight year old ThinkPad T430s (upgraded with an SSD and maximum memory), it is starting to show its age now but because it was so good originally it has lasted well and could realistically last me a couple more years. I would look at a ThinkPad T490s with an i7 processor, 512GB SSD storage and 16GB of memory if I were to replace it now.
